Liat Axton sat on the edge of her leaf mattress, staring at the dirt floor of her single-roomed cabin.
Today was the sixteenth anniversary of the day that she had been found by Zan Axton in the woods.
Zan was the man she'd always called 'Father'.
Even when she discovered as a child that he had only found her, she delighted in being the daughter he'd never had. Yet still, she resented her true parents for abandoning her.
