Jedi Ross wanted his Gift.
He was only fifteen, not sixteen, like the Cult demanded.
He wanted to join the war against the Rogues.
He wanted to train, physically and mentally, to take his place in the Band. He would learn to use his Gift to the advantage of the Band, the Clan and the Cult.
The day he received his Gift would be the day he would stop being compared to his twin sister, Verity, the Daughter of Truth.
She'd been left in the woods near another village simply because of her blue eyes.
The Cult hated them.
Among both the Clan and the Cult that ruled them, blue eyes were a curse. Verity would have been killed.
Jedi and his parents were the only ones who knew of Verity's existence, and even then, only that she'd lived for a few hours the day she was born. They'd never heard another word.
