'So they really were giving you life by abandoning you to a village that wouldn't kill you because of you eye colour,' Zan mused.
Liat simply nodded.
'Attack!' came the cry from the clearing.
Zan jumped up and ran outside, already unsheathing the sword that hung at his waist, Emerson following his lead.
Liat dried her eyes, then slipped the bow off her back and reached for her first arrow.
