Liat dropped her pack, bow and arrows under a bush before she snuck closer to the small village she could see in the distance.
As she got closer, she could see that the houses were made of similar materials as the huts she'd lived in all her life. She noticed that each house was emblazoned with a circular emblem on the wooden doors.
She watched as people began to convene in the streets, all forming a circle in the centre of the town.
From her vantage point, Liat could see between houses.
She could see a small circular block in the centre of the gathering crowd.

Liat closed her eyes as the girl was shoved down onto the block, a sword raised above her.
She began to get the feeling that these people were not the type to show hospitality to a stranger, particularly if they could kill one of their own.
