Jedi took in Liat's words, staring into the fire once more.
'So, Jedi Ross,' Liat spoke again. 'What's your story?'
What to tell her, Jedi wondered. The truth.
'Well,' he sat back. 'I'm from the Clan. When I was born, I had a twin sister, Verity.'
'What's she like?' Liat asked.
'I don't know. I don't even know if she's alive.'
'Why not?'
'She had blue eyes. My parents knew she'd be killed, so left her near another village, hoping she'd be taken in and treated kindly. I've lived my life knowing that my parents loved my twin sister more than they loved me. And the one day that was supposed to be mine was still made into hers anyway,' he admitted bitterly.
'I'm so sorry,' Liat whispered.
Jedi shook his head, shaking off his bitterness at the same time.
'You asked my story. Now it's your turn. Who are you, Liat Axton?'
