Eric had been sleeping for hours now and I've been occasionally checking up on him. His face has cuts and a large bruise is formed on his cheekbone. He took his shirt off before he fell asleep leaving the wounds on his back to breathe. I didn't bother waking him up even though we have a lot to continue but this is me giving him his space...and rest.

In the kitchen I put Ean in his high chair and spoon feed him. His hair is so long that he almost looks like a girl--Eric likes his hair like this and refuses to let me cut it.

I hear the floor creak and Eric stepping into the kitchen shirtless while rubbing his eyes still looking exhausted.

"Sleep well?" I turn away from him to continue feeding our son.

He grunts in response and nods. Then he starts pouring himself his daily morning cup of coffee.

"You should have your back looked at," I turn my head to look at the dried up blood and scars now all over him.

"Your nails have done much worse." He says now keeping eye contact and lifting the cup to his mouth. Not even phased by his words, but hoping that I will be.

A little taken back by his words I can't tell whether he's in a good mood or not. Last time we talked it didn't end well, but when does it? "Will you at least let me disinfect it later?"

He nods again. "On one condition."

I lower the spoon in my hand and turn to look at him raising an eyebrow. "What's that?"

"We never speak of anything that went on yesterday again. We leave that behind us. The conversation included."

"Eric..." I huff. "We can't just ignore--"

"No. That's my condition."

"Fine then you can have an infected back," I cross my arms. "We're talking about this."

"Or I can just get Vanessa to rub my back-or rather scratch my back for me. I know she'd be more than happy to." He smirks devilishly.

"You're an ass," I roll my eyes. "If that woman comes into this apartment so help me god I will claw her eyes out." I put the cap on Ean's baby food and take him out of the high chair and walk to the nursery to set him down. I walk back to the kitchen where Eric hasn't moved. "This has to be talked about."

"Oh, come on Elena. A little competition is healthy. I think maybe I should bring Vanessa back around." Eric winks at me. Obviously joking and putting off the conversation.

I put my hands on my hips and give him a glare. "We don't have to talk about what happened to you or Ean yesterday, but I think we should at least continue the conversation we last had. Where exactly we stand."

"Oh." Eric sets the coffee cup down on the counter. "Thank you for reminding me. I get to make those fuckers pay today." A wicked gleam was in his eyes.

I grab onto his tattooed forearm. "That's not what I mean, and you don't have work today. Leave it to the rest of leadership to handle that crowd. They'll pay, don't worry."

He gritted his teeth. "Are you kidding me Elena? Or did you fucking enjoy the events of yesterday? Someone must and will pay and it's my right that I'm the one who makes them. You can't stop me. I'm tired of constantly arguing with you which is why I made my condition what it was-is. Listen to me for fucks sake."

I take a step back. "Fine," I simply say. "There's the door, go and take on all of those that took part in the events. Eric, I know your strong but you can't do this alone, and you can't do this on a whim. I'm trying to help you logically."

"Logically! You're the one who's not thinking logically!" His voice is loud and he's almost laughing at me. "I don't have to hunt the people down. Guards already did that for me. I run a tight ship. It's just my job to execute them- which I'm going to do. I don't do bitch work, Elena, because I think logically. So logically, in your best interest stay out of my way and stop challenging me at every turn. You'll break before I do."
