Jasper

Mommy says it's only been one month, but Daddy has been gone for years! I only get to see him on Saturday's and it's not fair! Mommy gets to see him a lot more than I do!

I push my coloring supplies onto the floor. "Fuck," I whisper, smiling at the word I learned from daddy. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck," I parade around my room. "FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK," I shout.

"JASPER DREW MCCANN!" I hear Mommy angrily shout. I quickly duck under my bed before she comes in. "Where are you, you little shit?" She huffs out. "You're going to be in way more trouble if you don't come out here right now."

I quickly scamper out from under my bed. "H-Hi, momma," I stutter.

"Why are you up here shouting bad words?" She kneels down to my height.

"Because I miss daddy and that's what he says," I shrug, not looking into her eyes.

"Baby," she sighs. "Do you want to go see daddy today?"

I nod quickly, looking up at her. "Y-Yes, pl-please!" I jump up and down excitedly.

Jay Jay stands in the doorway behind her. "He's just like you, Nes," he smiles.

"You don't know me," she snaps.

I furrow my eyebrows. "Why is you angry?" I sit on her lap, being careful not to hit her belly.

"It's adult stuff, baby. I'll tell you when you're older, yeah?"

I wait a minute before nodding. "You can tell me now, right? I is a minute older," I grin up at her.

She shakes her head with a laugh. "Go color daddy a picture and I'll call him."

My eyes widen and I run over to my little table. "Ah shit," I mimic daddy again.

"JASPER!"

I flinch at Jay Jay's loud voice. I look up at mommy to see her looking at me expectantly. "Sorry, mommy. I's forgot I threw my stuff everywhere," I blush.

"That doesn't mean you can cuss," Justin says to me.

I shrug, "at least I don't hit my mommy."

I watch as my mother's eyes widen. "Jasper," she whispers, "stop it."

"It's true!" I yell at her. "He— he hit you and yelled at you without apologizing. Daddy never hits you! A-And when he yells at you, he feels terrible!"

"Jasper, enough!" She screams at me. "I don't know what's gotten into you but it better be cleared up by the time I get back."

I feel tears flowing down my cheeks as mommy and uncle Jay leave my room. "I miss my daddy," I whisper to myself.

"Kinsley!" I hear mommy scream from her room. I set my crayon down and run to her. "Get a bag ready for Jasper," she sobs, "toys, an outfit, snacks... Jason's in the hospital."

I feel myself stiffen. I run to my mom. "I's hold you," I wrap my arms around her. She cries against me. "I have you, momma. It's going to be okay," I whisper.

"I need you to get ready to go, baby," she sniffles. "Go put your shoes on so mommy can get some stuff ready for daddy."
