Jasper
"Momma?" I shake her gently.
She opens her eyes. "Jasper? What's wrong?"
"I want to sleep with you and Daddy," I whisper.
"Alright, come on," she scoots over. After a few minutes, her phone starts blaring into the silence. "What the hell," she groans. "Hello?" I stare at her in the dark. "Justin? How'd you– what?.... slow down, what happened?"
I shake Daddy quickly. "She's talking to Jay-Jay," I say softly.
He sits up. "Okay, so then what's going to happen? Are you okay?" Momma talks quickly into the phone. "I'll talk to Jason in the morning..."
"I'm up," Daddy reaches over to grab her leg.
"He's up, hang on." She pulls the phone away from her ear. "Justin's girlfriend was high and she drove off the Brooklyn bridge."
"Why does he have your number?"
"I don't know," she puts the phone back. "How'd you get my number?....... and he just gave it to you?... what do you need?"
Dad leans against her side. "Tell him to loose your phone number or I'll have him arrested for harassment," he snaps at her.
"Don't call me when you need to beat someone down to feel good, Justin. This is why we don't fucking want you in our lives anymore. Grow up and loose my number or I will report you to the police for harassment," she hangs up and tosses her phone to the floor.
"Come here, baby," he pulls her into his lap. I sit next to them and frown at my parents. Mommy tucks her head into Daddy's neck. "I know, Angel, it's so hard. Daddy's here, baby."
I rub Mom's shin. "I is sorry, Momma. You's want me go back to my bed?"
"Go climb in bed with Kinny," he tells me. "You and I can make breakfast for mom in the morning."
Just as I am about to close the door, I hear mom whisper she wants to play. What the heck?
Jason
"I," kiss; "love," kiss; "you," kiss.
Nezther giggles, placing her hands on my chest. "Daddy, stop," she smiles as I attack her cheeks with kisses.
A knock at the door makes me groan. "Papa is at work, right?" I ask her. She nods quickly. "I'll be right back, Darling. Don't move," I kiss her nose.
I walk to the front door. "What the fuck are you doing here?" I snap as I open the door.
"I–"
"No," I growl, "I don't even care. Get out, Justin. You can't be here," I grow furious.
"Daddy?" Nessie walks up behind me.
I turn to look at her. "Baby, I said stay in the kitchen." The second she sees Justin, something switches. She drops the the floor and sits with her legs outstretched. "Oh no," I whisper.
"What's wrong with her?"
"Dada," she mumbles and reaches up to me, "dada."
I turn to Justin. "Go back home, Justin. Leave my wife and my kids alone." I slam the door in his face.
"Dada," my baby's bottom lip quivers.
I frown, lifting her off the floor. "I know, babe," I whisper, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. "Daddy's going to take care of you," I carry her back to our room.

"Daddy?" Gracie sets her grilled cheese down. "When can we see mommy?"
I look over at her. Jenny and Jasper look up at me expectantly. I look to Leigh and Kinsley. They just shrug. "Um," I clear my throat. "When she wakes up, Soldier, we can go sit with her."
"What happened?" Leigh asks as Kinsley walks out of the room.
"Justin showed up and she just plopped down on the floor and went back into that deep little space," I explain.
She furrows her eyebrows, taking a sip of her avocado smoothie. "So it's like..." she looks at something behind me. "Like she's afraid of him?"
I nod, "I think so." I let out a heavy sigh. "We're leaving tomorrow anyways. Once we're back home, I can keep him away for good."
"Daddy no hurt bad man, please," Nessie sits next to me.
"What? Who's bad man?" Gracie jumps in.
"Daddy, please."
I lean over to press a kiss against her lips. "I won't, my Queen," I whisper as I pull away. "No one you need to worry your pretty little head about," I kiss my daughter's forehead.
Kinsley walks into the kitchen again. "You should crush his fucking skull," she snaps as she grabs her smoothie.
"No!" Nezther yells at her. "No hurtin' anyone! Just tell him to stay away!"
I wrap an arm around her. "Stop it. I said I wasn't going to," I scold quietly.
"Sorry," she huffs before walking out.
I sigh as I look back at my kids. "How about we go to the beach today? Papa said he'll meet us there."
