Nezther
It's been twenty-four hours, one thousand-four hundred-forty minutes, eighty-six thousand-four hundred second, and I still haven't heard a word from my husband or about my son.
My phone rings, bringing me out of my thoughts. I grab it and answer quickly. "Yeah?" I ask hopefully.
"Hi, can I speak to Nezther McCann please?"
"This is she, who is this?"
"Hello, Mrs. McCann. My name is Leslie, I am an officer working on the case for your missing son. A body was brought in the morning that matched your son's description and we're hoping you can identify the body."
A sob escapes my lips. "Yeah, of course," I clear my throat. "I'll be down at the station in thirty minutes."
I quickly call Luca's phone. "Nes?" He answers groggily.
"Get Jason. Have Carson," I choke out.
"You have Carson?"
"Cops."
There's some shuffling before I hear my husband's voice. "Baby? Are you okay, Angel? What's going on?"
"They think they have Carson!" I cry out, "He's dead, I know it. My baby," I sob loudly.
"Okay, Angel, calm down. I'm going to come get you and we'll go together. I'm leaving now, babe. I love you so much."
"I love you too."
Sofia rubs my back gently. "It's going to be okay, Nessie. I pray it's not him."
I lean into her side. "Me too."

The woman pulls back the sheet. "Oh my God!" I shriek as I bury my face into my husband's chest. "Oh my God," I sob. He kisses my head and rubs my back. "What the fuck?!"
"It's not him," Jason tells the woman.
"Who would do something like that?"
"I don't know, baby, I don't know," he hugs me tightly.
"I have to ask you to leave, but you're welcomed to stay as long as you'd like in the room in front."
Jason nods, "up, baby," he taps the back of my thighs.
I jump and he carries me on his waist. I sob the entire way to the car. He places me in the passenger seat. "There's somethin' on the window," I point to the windshield.
Jason takes the small paper off. "I swear to god if it's a parking tick–, fuck," he grunts.
"What?" I whine as I reach out to him. He steps back into my arms. I take the note from his finger.
Ah, ah, ah... he's not here, princess. Remember the place we always talked about going? He's there, baby. See you soon.
I lean my head against Jason's shoulder. "Why is he doing this?" I cry.
He glides his fingers through my hair. "We're going to find him, Nezther, okay? He's going to be alive and he's going to be okay." He kisses my head firmly. "Now tell me about this place you two talked about going."

I hear a gunshot as we pull into the empty parking lot. "Carson!" I scream as I jump out of the SUV. I run to the abandoned front entryway. "Carson! Where are you!?" I shout out.
"M-Ma!" I hear him cry.
"Don't move," Justin whispers in my ear. One arm goes around my waist as the other holds a pistol up to my temple. "How ya doin', princess? It's been awhile since we've had a proper conversation," he kisses my cheek.
"Where's my son?" I growl.
"Oh, baby, don't you want to have some fun first?" He grasps my breast tightly. "Mm, no bra for me, princess? You shouldn't have."
I hear a loud gushing noise before Justin drops to the floor. I look back to see Jason with his throwing knives and one in Justin's thigh. "Go get Carson." My husband growls.
It doesn't take a second before I'm running up the stairs to find him. "Carson! Baby, it's Mommy! Where are you!?"
"M-M-Ma!" He sobs.
I turn to see him sitting huddled up against a box. I run to him and squeaky down in front of him. "Oh my god," I bring him into my arms. "Are you hurt?"
He nods, "m-my l-leg, Momma."
"Okay, baby. There are police and doctors outside, can you walk?"
"I's can, b-but wa-want you t-to carry me," he wraps his arms around my neck.
I stand up. "There going to be lots of lights and blood downstairs, I need to you close your eyes until I tell you it's okay. Can you do that for me?" Again, he nods.
Carson tucks his head into my neck, his breathing unsteady. I stand up and rub his back to soothe him. Two officers are cuffing Justin as Jason talks to another. I walk out of the abandoned building. My son whimpers, moving his hands to cover his ears.
"Over here!" I hear Kinsley yell to me.
I walk over to the ambulance she was standing by. "It's okay, baby. You're safe," I sit on the ground with Carson. I hold him as tight as I can. He opens his eyes and squeezes me back. "You're safe," I repeat but this time more for myself than him.

"CARSON!" The kids exclaim as we walk in the door.
Carson giggles, "buddies!"
I set him down. He runs to his siblings and hugs them all. "Come here," Jason wraps his arms around my waist. I smile as I lean against his muscular chest. "Look, he has a sprained ankle and he pulled a muscle but he's still running around with them."
"Yeah," I lean my head on his shoulder. "I think– I think we should talk to them about having another baby."
"You really want to?" The excitement in his voice makes me laugh. "For real, Nezther? You want to?"
"I wouldn't have said if I didn't. But I want everything to calm down. Your temper, the drama, i want to make sure Justin is completely out of the picture, and if they say they want another sibling, it's a go."
He kisses my forehead. "I love you."
"I love you too."
