Kinsley

I place Jasper in his booster chair. I grab everyone's cups that I had just filled with either water or juice and place them on the table. "Kinsley," Nezther stirs the pot of Beef Stroganoff. "Jason and I would like to talk to you after dinner."

"Nes, if it's about me moving out–"

She cuts me off and looks over at me. "It's nothing like that. We want to talk to you about... the abortion," she hesitantly says.

"Can't you just talk to me now?"

She shakes her head. "We want to do it together, but along, ya know what I mean? We don't want anyone else hearing it," she portions out the pasta on everyone's plates.

"Why not?" Leigh comes walking down the stairs.

"Because Kinsley's needs to make the choice before anyone else knows about it. Now sit down, it's time for dinner."

Jason comes walking in from the backyard. Dinner was eerily silent, besides the sound of forks scraping against the glass plates. Jason takes Jasper to bed, considering we had eaten a late dinner.

"Okay," Jason comes into the kitchen. "I told him I'd come up in a few minutes."

Nezther nods, "you wanna sit in here or the living room?"

"In here, I guess."

We sit at the table, they both stare at me. I look down at my lap because I feel like a child whose about to get scolded. "We know today was hard on you," Nezther starts. "And if you really want to..." she bites her lip and looks at Jason.

"We'll pay for a sperm donor so no one can take your baby away." He finishes. My eyes widen at their offer. "You don't have to accept or decline right now. The offer is on the table and will stay there until you make your decision," he reaches over to grab my hand. "We want you happy."

The front door opens and slams shut. Justin walks in angrily. "What the fuck is going on!?" He shouts at us.

I flinch at his tone of voice. A loud cry comes from upstairs. "You take that and get to bed with Jasper. I'll make sure nothing happens," Jason says to his fiancée.

Jason

"Justin–"

"What?" He spits at Kinsley.

"If you let me finish, you would know," she snaps back. "Why are you here? You were supposed to leave," she quickly glances at me then looks back at him.

His face slightly softens before he glares at her again. "I don't even know anymore."

"So then fucking leave!" She screams. "NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE! YOU'VE FUCKED EVERYONE OF US OVER AND OVER, JUST LEAVE EVERYONE ALONE!"

Heavy footsteps come running down the stairs. "Shit," Leigh says as she walks up beside me. "Is she okay?"

I nod, wrapping my arm around her shoulders. "How about you, kid? You alright?"

"I'm fine."

Justin shakes his head. "I didn't fuck you over, Kinsley," he whispers.

"YOU TOOK MY CHILD AWAY FROM ME!" She sobs. "You didn't let me have a choice."

"It was my–"

"Fuck you, Justin. You could've just said that you didn't want it and I would've been fine with that. I was carrying it in my stomach, you were not."

"It wasn't even a fetus yet," he rolls his eyes. "It's just a blood clot at the bottom of a garbage can."

My eyes widen as Kinsley steps forward to slap him. "You are such an insensitive asshole. You don't understand it from a girls' point of view, do you?" He rolls his eyes again at her. "Let me explain it to you. Four and a half years ago, I was pregnant, went into premature labor, baby died. My boyfriend at the time tried to kill himself the next day. Then almost five years later, I'm ecstatic to be with the man that I truly believe I belong with. I'm so happy to find out I'm pregnant with his child. Then he doesn't take the fucking time to understand THAT I LIKE MY LIFE THE WAY IT IS NOW and makes me get a fucking abortion." She breathes heavily. "Should I tell Jason and Leigh why I did it? What you threatened me with?"

"No–"

"Justin here said that if I didn't get a professional abortion, he'd push me down the stairs."

My eyes widen to the size of saucers. "You–"

Justin cuts me off. "Whatever, Kinsley. Fuck you, fuck Nezther, fuck Jason and their kids. I don't give a flying shit about you anymore or anyone you associate with." He turns and storms back to the door.

I quickly follow him out. "Jay, what happened?" I grab his arm. "You used to be so kind and understanding, what happened?"

"Why?" He chuckles dryly. "Because shit happens. Nezther decided to not even tell me that you guys were together, but when I see her for the first time after we broke up, she said she was pregnant!" He pulls at his brown hair, growling in the process. "So there went all my chances I had with her! Then I fucked up with Kinsley and she came out here! We got back together for two months, Jace! I thought I had her back! Then she tells me she doesn't want to come home with me?" I watch as tears rush down his face. "I keep messing everything up and I don't know why."

I pull him into a hug. "Do you wanna know what I think?" He nods, burying his face into my shoulder. "I think you're not used to having anything good in your life for long periods of time and when you do, you ruin it so you don't have to feel the pain when something goes wrong."

"I'm sorry," he cries against me.

I hold my brother in my arms. I whisper soft assurances in his ear until he's fully calmed. "How about you come inside? You can sleep on the couch and help us pack everything tomorrow and we'll go from there," I pull away from him.

He just nods, following me inside. Kinsley sits on the stairs with her head in her hands. "Can I shower and barrow a pair of pants and a shirt? My clothes are at the hotel," he mumbles.

I nod quickly. "Of course, I'll be right back." He walks over to the living room. I help Kinsley up and walk upstairs with her. "He's staying the night. You both can calm down and talk tomorrow."

She shrugs and goes into her room. I smile as I enter my room to see Nezther asleep with Jasper cuddled up to her side. I slowly open my drawers and grab a t-shirt with a pair of sweatpants. After getting a blanket and a pillow from the hall closet, I walk downstairs to Justin.

"Here," I hand him everything. "I put my body wash and shampoo in the hall bathroom for you."

"Thanks, Jace," he wipes tears off his face. "I appreciate it."
