You sigh with your head placed firmly between your hands, staring at the mound of paperwork on your desk. Your eyelids droop and you take a sip of your energy drink, coughing. It takes horrible but it gives you energy so that's why you drink it.
You loved your job. You are the CEO of the most wealthy business in the world, you made your way to the top with your ruthless and stubborn attitude. You never backed down from what you believed and persevered through all the tough times in the beginning. You weren't nice to the people who worked for you but you weren't rude to them either. You gave them what most people call tough love.
You hear a soft knock on your office door and you look up as one of your employees step into the room. She seems to be nervous, anyone would, you had a very high status and many wanted to please you.
"Yes?" You ask, a bit coldly. She shuffles by the door.
"Uh, Ma'am." She starts. "I'm, uh, Teddy."
"Okay?" You were confused as to why she was telling you her name. You heard millions of names everyday so you knew you were going to forget it, like you forget everyone else's.
"I'm your, uh, secretary." She continues, pushing up her big black glasses back up onto her nose. "You have looked very stressed lately and everyone here can tell. So, we were wondering, uh, if y-you would want us to hire you some help."
"I don't need help." You sit back in your chair insulted that she, and everyone else, thinks you need help with your work. You never needed it before.
"L-Let me explain." She intertwines her fingers together and holds her hands in front of her. "It's not that we think you, uh, are unable to do your job efficiently by yourself, it's just that maybe you'd like to have someone around while you work to, you know, talk to or ask questions if you're not sure on something." You weigh the options. Teddy can tell she's persuading you. "They could even get you drinks when you need them."
"You see-" You start but then forget her name.
"Teddy."
"You see Teddy, you make a compelling argument..." She bows with a smile.
"Thank y-"
"But I'm still going to say no." You fold your arms across your chest, her smile falls.
"Would you at least give us a chance to hire someone?"
You sigh. She's almost as stubborn as you and you can tell she, and whoever the 'we' is, are trying to be nice to you. So why the hell not? Why not give them a chance? "I'll give you tonight and tomorrow to try and find me an assistant and if you don't, you must promise to never speak of getting me help again. Depending on my mood tomorrow, I might fire you as well."
Another wide smile spreads onto her face, it has a nervous tinge to it too as she realises you might fire her. "Yes Ma'am, thank you Ma'am!" She bows before leaving. You shake your head at her, getting back to your work.
*time skip*
They brought in many people who were willing to work for you. Most of them couldn't handle the hours you wanted them to work, others didn't like your rigid tone. Finally the last person was brought in by the girl from yesterday, you forgot her name again.
It was a tall man with slightly ginger hair. It was gelled and combed back to give him a professional appearance. He's wearing a black tux and a large, polite smile.
"Hello Ma'am." He says holding out his hand for you to shake. You shake it and he sits down.
