Chapter 49

Corey's POV:

     After leaving Isaac and friends at the rink I made a quick pit stop at Patty's. Isaac's family was sitting in the back corner and were awkwardly stiff.

"Hi Mrs.Dun, Capasons" I said nodding

"What's up Corey" Steve said offering me a seat, obviously Isaac's seeing there was pink lemonade.

"You must be Josh" I said giving the unknown man looking way too much like Isaac

"Hi" he said shyly

"Can I talk to you outside?" I asked pushing my eyebrows together

   Josh slowly stood up and followed me outside. He looked scared as he should be.

"Are you friends with Isaac" He asked

"He's been my best friend since kindergarten. Who are you"

"I'm his dad"

"No you aren't. A dad is someone who sticks around even when shit gets tough. A dad is someone who teaches you how to ride a bike and throws a ball with you in the front yard. A dad isn't someone who runs away to fucking Portland leaving his wife and kids alone thinking he's dead" I said getting angrier

"I don't know who you are but you don't know anything about my family" Josh said getting defensive

"Really? Are you there at 4am when Isaac calls me crying about how much he fucked up? Or has he crawled through your window saying how much we wishes he had a dad? He blames himself for you dying every fucking day. You can't just walk back in here like nothing ever happened. Isaac tries to act strong but he's not you really fucked him up" I said getting angrier

"Corey you seem like a really good friend"

"I'm an amazing friend"

"I know I fucked up trust me on that. I shouldn't be explaining myself to you anyways. I just got back and Isaac hasn't even given me the opportunity to explain myself and get to know him. Please if you see him today, tell him that?" Josh said nervously

"Fine but that's only because I care about him and he deserves a good life and to stop hating himself" I said walking away

    I walked around the city a little while longer. I feel so bad for Isaac, he was finally doing better and accepting that this was what his life would be and Josh shows up again.

     Not knowing what to do I stopped by Jacki's house. We're still really good friends and she's the only one I can talk to.

"Hi Mr.Joseph is Jacki home?" I asked

"She's upstairs with Isaac" he smiled

"Thanks." I smiled heading up the stairs

Isaac and Jacki were laying on her bed talking. I knocked on the door before walking in.

"Hey Cor" Jacki smiled

"Hey" I smiled sitting next to them

"What's up" Isaac asked

"Just went on a walk and wanted to see what you guys were up to" I shrugged
