Isaac's POV:
I was not looking forward to school today. Turning in this journal was going to be the end of me. I've never written down what I felt before now with Dad being alive it felt odd. I put on my Broadside shirt and ripped jeans. Grabbing my thick flannel I headed down the stairs. Quickly I grabbed a bagel from the counter and ran out the door.
"ISAAC!" I heard someone yell from behind me
"Corey stop yelling it's 6am!" I screamed back
Corey ran to catch up to me breathing heavily.
"Have you talked to Carly?" He asked
"Not really, she's been a bit off. Why?" I asked
"Dante told me that she was kissing some guy at the ice cream place last night" he said
"One more thing to add to this shitty week. Not gonna lie I was thinking about breaking up with her anyways" I shrugged
"Why?" He asked twisting his face "you were so into her"
"I don't know ever since we had dinner with Carter she's been brushing me off and never answering my texts. Now this I can't deal with that" I said
We hopped on the bus and started discussing this even further. Once Jacki came on I decided to ask her since the two of them were best friends.
"I knew they were friends but she's always talking about you" she shrugged
"How would this end up if I broke up with her, she's supposed to go with us to Issues" I sighed
"Break up with her, she can find her own way there" Jacki said, she seemed mad at Carly
We made it to school and I texted Carly to meet us at the flag pole. The second I got off the bus I saw her bright orange hair.
"Carly!" I yelled
She turned around and realized why I liked her. She had the brightest smile I'd ever seen. Come on Isaac, she kissed some other guy.
"Hey babe" she said kissing my check
"About that" I started "were you making out with some guy at the ice cream shop last night"
"Isaac I can explain" she said, her smile dropping
"Don't bother I get it. It's been a good three months, maybe we can stay friends" I said walking away
I've never been in a relationship before so I guess that's how you break up with someone. Maybe it wasn't the best way but what can you do? I walked alone into History and sat down, I forgot we all sit together. Sorting through my backpack I realized I didn't have my journal. This was due today, why am I such a fuck up. Not knowing what to do I texted mom asking her to bring it.
Mom: sorry buddy I'm at work, I can ask dad to bring it
Great. The last thing I need right now is for dad to show up. Thankfully English was my last class of the day. It was finally time for lunch and a pit started forming in my stomach.
"What's up Ice" Jacki asked me when she saw me in the hallway
"I broke up with Carly but I forgot we all sit together at lunch" I said
