Q: What inspired you to do this story, make up different characters, or just get into writing in general?
A: Funny story actually, I have reoccurring dreams often and this was actually one of them give or take some details. After that everything just fell into place and I couldn't stop.
For the characters I based them off people I knew or characters from my favorite movies or shows. Like Amelia and I have a lot in common, along with her father and my own the same with her brother and mine. I also have a huge love for Patrick in Perks of Being a Wallflower that I had to base Steve off of him.
Ever since I was younger like 7 young I wrote stories. When I was in third grade for a gift for my teacher I wrote a little story and had my babysitter illustrate it. (It was pretty sick but sadly I didn't make a copy of the illustrations just the story) Writing has been one of my passions for as long as I can remember.
Q: You've written about self harm and suicide but is any of it based on past experiences of yours?
A: I did struggle with self harm for a while but as of right now I'm 3 years clean. The things written in the story with Josh weren't based off of anything I did but I had some background (if you call it that?) on being in that mental state.
Q: I know in the past Amelia had called herself emo but has she ever had problems with depression or self harm?
A: Yes, she has struggled with depression for a good portion of her life. As she grew up having Ronnie taken away from her, her father and her horrible mother she didn't really have that great of a support system mentally. But with having Steve around to help her out she never self harmed.
