Breaking Ice

Chapter 36

Isaac's POV:

Steve and Luke are yelling again, they do that a lot more often now. Mom's been crying a lot since the other day. Hayden and I slipped in while the three of them were arguing.

"Do you think Luke and Steve are going to break up" Hayden asked looking through my photo books

"Doubt it, they can't survive without each other" I said with a laugh

"Do you think Steve is going to the bar"

"Hayden don't worrying about it, they'll be fine"

"Should we check on mom and Luke?"

"Probably but my bed is so comfy" I sighed

   Hayden shook her head at me before getting up. I picked up my laptop and started scrolling through Tumblr. Carly has been ignoring my texts the past few days, I hope she's alright. Her first Ohio exams are coming up so I think she's been studying. Nobody has been replying to me actually.

Not knowing what to do I decided to check up on Luke and Mom. Moms door was open so I guess Hades was in there so I went to see Luke.

"Lucas can I come in" I said knocking on the door

"No" he said with sniffles

"I'm coming in anyways" I said turning the nob

I walked in and Luke was bawling his eyes out. Tissues littered the bed, this looks like a scene from a chick flick.

"Are you alright?" I asked pushing a space in the bed

"I think this is it" he sighed "he's gone"

"No he's not, he's Steve he can't live without you"

"He wants a kid Isaac, he doesn't want to wait, he wants to rush straight into it"

"Are you nervous? Is that why you think he's rushing because you want to go slow"

"No I want a kid just as much as him"

"If you guys were on the same level with kids, he wouldn't have left"

"Isaac this is a really big decision you don't understand"

"My whole life you've guys included me on your adult issues, a little more than I would like, so don't tell me I don't understand."

"I know Isaac, you probably understand this more than I do but I don't want you to get involved." Luke sighed

"I would have loved to live above a bar" I smiled before walking out

I went downstairs and started making dinner. Neck Deep is the perfect band to listen to while cooking. Mom is still a vegetarian and I'm slowly getting into it. Steve and Luke have corrupted me.

"Dinner!" I yelled

Hayden and Luke came down but there was no sight of mom. I knocked on her door but got no answer. Slowly I opened the door and smelt cigarettes. I saw moms silhouette in front of the open window.

"Mom are you smoking?" I asked

"No I'm not" she said with a cough

"Well after you don't put out that cigarette I made dinner" I said rolling my eyes

"Thank you honey, I'm not smoking" She said before I shut the door

"What's in this" Hayden said poking at her food

"Zucchini, water chestnuts, baby corn, mushrooms, peppers, rice and spinach" I said sitting down
