Breaking Ice

Chapter 51

Josh's POV:

      I woke up naked in Amelia's bed. She was still asleep so I admired her tattoos. When I left she only had the one behind her neck, the hot air ballon, and a kitten on her ankle. Now she has two scattered sleeves, a back piece and some on her legs. My favorite was her Alice and Wonderland one on her forearm. By looking at it one side was completely Disney while the other was music related besides the hot air balloon.

"Good morning" Amelia said in a raspy voice waking up

"Good morning baby" I smiled kissing her forehead "want me to make you some tea it's cold out"

"Please" she said pecking my lips

I got out of bed and slid on my boxers and jeans from last night. Whipping my eyes I went into the kitchen and started brewing her tea. Not long after Amelia came out wearing my sweater and some leggings. I'm still not over how hot she looks wearing my clothes.

"Morning" Hayden said coming down the stairs

"Morning sweetheart" Amelia smiled "want me to make you some breakfast"

"Oooo yeah" Hayden beamed

I helped make some eggs and veggie bacon while Ahme drank her tea. Isaac came down not long after.

"Morning Ice" I smiled

"Hey" he said brushing past me

"I'm gonna go see Tyler today and then Friday I'm gonna go see Grandma, Jordan, Ashley and Abby"

"Cool, Jor and Skylar got divorced so don't bring her up."

"Yeah I know"

      I handed Hayden and Isaac their food before going to my car to get clothes out. I forgot I wasn't wearing a shirt and froze. It was probably forty degrees out. Quickly I ran back inside with my suitcase.

"It's so cold out" I laughed

"Mom is it going to snow soon" Hayden smiled

"Maybe, last year it started snowing on the twentieth so we have another week, if it starts the same time" Amelia smiled

"I love snow" Hayden cheered

I pulled my suitcase into Amelia's room for now and put on a sweater, grabbed my leather jacket and boots.

How was I supposed to tell Tyler. He's my best friend, I knew that leaving hurt him a lot. His new music he put out made me feel so bad, it was sadder than Self Titled. I never should have left, why am I so stupid? Tyler was always there for me and made sure I was doing alright.

Do I just knock on his door and hope for the best? Text him to meet me somewhere? I never canceled my phone, since Amelia and I were on different plans, she could never cancel it. He would leave me voicemail after voicemail, I couldn't do this to him.

"Ahme what do I do" I said walking into the kitchen

"Tyler isn't home right now, he usually leaves at ten and gets back at three so you could see Jenna and go from there" Ahme said rubbing my arm

"Fuck" I groaned sliding my hands down my face. What am I doing?

"You did this to yourself, now you have to face the consequences" She said giving me a mom glare

"I'll see you later" I said kissing her

"Love you" she called as I shut the front door

I took the familiar drive down to the Joseph's. Hopefully Jacki wasn't home so I could talk to Jenna in private. The faint sound of Citizen was playing in my car, as I slammed my head against the steering wheel. I should just drive, drive away from Columbus, away from Ohio. Back to Portland or maybe Arizona, not here. I never should have came back. No matter what I do it's not gonna be pretty. Fuck.

"Josh you can do it, it's just Jenna for now" I said talking myself into it.

     I got out of the car and walked up to the front porch and rang the bell. Nervously I whipped my hands on my jeans. A little boy answered the door with a confused look.

"Who are you" he asked

"I'm Josh, is Jenna here?" I asked, did I have the wrong house?

"No you're not I'm Josh, my mommy's name is Jenna" The little boy said.

     They had another kid? And named him Josh. I sure did fuck up.

"Can I talk to your mommy?" I asked

"Mommy! There's some weird man at the door who says he's me" little Josh yelled shutting the door in my face.

"Josh what did I tell you about answering the door for strangers" I could hear Jenna say

   The door seemed to take forever to open, on the other side Jenna was standing there. She didn't look much different.

"Josh" she said covering her mouth

"I'm sorry" I said tearing up

"Come in, please" she said grabbing my hand

    She guided me into the living room and kept staring at me in disbelief. I explained everything to her and she still couldn't believe it. Once I finished she started crying, my chest felt tight. She explained to me everything that had happened in the past few years I'd been gone. Tyler was doing worse than she had ever seen him, it was all my fault. She explained the story of little Josh, Tyler was so adamant about his name being Josh. I didn't deserve this, they shouldn't have done it. I'm such a shitty person.

"Jacki, Josh get down here" Jenna called, half a box of tissues later.

"Holy shit" a teenage girl said coming down the stairs, presumably Jacki

"Jax" Jenna said glaring "this is Uncle Josh, your dad's best friend"

"You're him" Jacki said pointing at me "does dad know"

"Not yet" Jenna smiled

I talked with the kids and Jenna for a little while more. Little Josh was very confused on how two people can have the same name, he really is his fathers son. Jacki filled me in on a bunch of stuff about Isaac, I knew I wouldn't be able to get anything out of him. The front door was rattling from being unlocked. It felt like my heart was going to pump out of my chest.
