She sat at the back of the class, not saying a word.

She sat alone at lunch, reading a book while eating some food.

She walked alone when she went home, listening to music on the way back.

She sat alone on the bus in the morning, ignoring the paper balls thrown at her.

She was silent, that's what Jack thought. The h/c haired girl was a mystery. He wanted to learn more about her, but never had the confidence to speak to her.

One day, Jack managed to muster up the confidence to speak to this mysterious girl.

"Uh, hey." He said while sitting next her desk in English. The girl looked up. "I'm Jack." Jack smiled awkwardly.

"Y/n." The girl replied quietly. Jack nodded, grabbing his pencil and book.

"Why do you never talk to anyone?" Jack asked, trying to avoid awkward silence. Y/n shrugged.

"Just not close to anyone." She rested her head on her hand, which was hidden by her jumper. Jack nodded as the awkward silence began.

Throughout the lesson, Jack would glance at y/n. She was always doodling in the margins, not listening to the teacher. Her foot tapped against the floor and when she wasn't doodling, her fingers were tapping on the desk.

The bell rang, signalling it was the end of the day. Y/n stood up, putting her earbuds in and listening to music as she walked out of the class. Jack and a few other people followed behind.

As Jack was walking home, he saw y/n walking ahead.

She lives in the same direction as me? How have I never noticed? He asked himself.

He ran to catch up with her. He wanted to know more about her. He wanted to know more about the girl who was silent.
