Steven REDUX!!!

Steven Universe.... this poor child...
So I did do a Steven chapter earlier on in the book, but this is possibly a deeper analysis of his overall character.

So, Steven is the half gem half human main character. His overall personality is pretty optimistic and he looks for the good in everyone. He manage to forgive Lapis and Peridot for the many attempts on his life. He was even willing to save Jasper, the gem that blames him for what happened to Pink Diamond. But seriously....he's going to need some therapy. 
Looking back at the first episode ( and the pilot) he went from doing clapbacks and singing about cookie cats to...how to put this bluntly....Learning his mother is a wanted war criminal, the destruction made in the name of gem kind, and almost dying at least every other episode. Seriously, just look at the examples:

-Steven poked his head out of the warp stream, and Pearl reminded him to keep his head in.

-Steven almost didn't make it onto the lunar sea spire.

-Steven and Connie almost drowned at the bottom of the ocean after the bubble burst.

-Steven almost fell into the fiery gates of hell... but was bailed out by Garnet.

-Steven almost aged himself to death.

-Mayor Dewey almost ran Steven over.

-Lapis Lazuli tried to drown Steven and Connie, but was saved by Greg's van.

-Lapis found it in herself NOT to drown Steven when lifting him up to the top of the tower.

-Lapis collapsed the tower without even putting Steven back on the ground. Connie and Lion had to save him from plummeting 100 miles to his death.

And that was just most of the first season. Pearl nearly kills him, at least twice to my knowledge, once due to her being upset over Rose not telling her some stuff and the second time was when she tried to take him to space.And that's ignoring the fact she almost removed his gem from his stomach. I don't even want to think about what would happen.  Then there are the times other gems tried to kill him. 

And then there are the traumatizing things he witnessed. He's slowly learning the history of the gem war. He learned:
- An ally wanted to use a weapon that destroyed both the body and the gem. 

-That his mother possibly murdered an elite in front of witnesses. 

-A gem tried to kill him to avenge said elite,

The list goes on. And this is a kid who is barely 14. Can you imagine what he's going through. I feel for this kid. And his happy-go-lucky nature...could just be a front. I'm really excited to see where his character will go from the latest episode. If he is just putting up a front to keep the gems and his dad from worrying about him, maybe he'll crack.
