Spinel

Can we talk about this Mickey Mouse clone for a second. I know it's been a few months since I last did any thing Steven Universe, but damn. I waited an entire week to talk about the Steven Universe movie and I must say...I'm not surprised.Well I am surprised, but not in the way I was expecting.
So Spinel is the former companion of Pink Diamond. Like I'm pretty sure she was Pink's bestie before Pearl. And she's is pissed, with every right. Like seriously, how are you supposed to feel after being abandoned for 6000 years.  However, when she's restored to her factory setting, she's almost child like.  This is on top of the fact that she's basically a 1940s...ish cartoon. Think Cuphead... Like wtf ?

So...I really feel bad for Spinel. But at the same time, she really could have gone about it a different way. She seems really clingy, like border line....scratch that very unhealthy. Like Pearl was will to possibly kill Steven to get Rose back and we all say what happened when White removed Steven's gem. Spinel literally went from a goofy, fun loving child like being to a bitter, possibly murder happy individual.  If anything, she's unhinged mentally.

Spinel was fueled by her vendetta against Pink Diamond and was willing and able to eliminate anyone who gets in her way. She literally factory resets Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst immediately after they just met, all because they got between her and Pink, although she may have had every intention of erasing Pink's "other friends" that replaced her in her misplaced fit of rage. She displays a multitude of deeper emotions like when she shows remorse after Steven saves her and tearfully asks herself why she wants to hurt him and everyone else. However, Spinel is also mature enough to understand she will have some difficulty creating and/ or fixing friendships after what Pink Diamond put her through, but is willing to start over with White, Blue, and Yellow.

I get her. She was abandoned for 6000 years because she thought she was playing a game. But what the fuck!!!
I love her character. The angst, the potential, she understands the damage she caused will be hard to reverse because it's a reflection of herself. She broken mentally, and even her design reflects this

This right here is a great example of how abandonment can change a person

This right here is a great example of how abandonment can change a person. Hell, she didn't realize she was abandoned for 6000 years. Any way, it's really good character, though I'd change some aspects of how she was written. Like I would cast doubt, because after a while, you'd just give up and assume the worst. It was the fact she believed Pink was coming back that really hit home, because a lot of people can sort of relate to her.
