Kihyun

As tears wreck through my body, Mochi lets out of sharp whine when he notices my distress. He gets out of the bed and makes his way over to me to whine again while trying to look into my eyes. Then, Mochi wedges himself through my legs, climbed onto my lap, and laid against my chest. He licks away the tears that dripped down my face and growled lightly before resting his head on his front paws.

"Mochi~, it's okay. You do not need to worry about me,"  I said as I tried to blink through my tears. He growls again and paws at my chest lightly.

"I'm serious."

Mochi ignores what I said and just huffs before laying still as if to offer me comfort. I started to pet him between his ears which caused them to flatten slightly so I didn't bumped them with my fingers. He lets out a soft bark and leaned into my touch. I got off the floor and laid down on my bed while still holding onto Mochi.

For what seemed like hours but really minutes, a part of me begged me to forget the fact that I will not live as long as normal people and just accept Hyunwoo. But, I didn't want him to watch me decay. That's why...

~flashback~

~Yeungnam University Hospital~

As I waited for my name to be called,  I watched two little kids chase after each other. Both were in hospital gowns with a beanie on. The smiles on their faces made me heart warm. But then, my heart started to ache again and my head was throbbing. I grimaced at the pain and looked up to the counter to see that my name only went up one space. Maybe, some water will help...

I got up to walk to the water fountain, but my legs could not hold me up anymore causing me to pitch to the ground.

*thud*

"Someone help. This young man collapsed," shrieked the old woman who was sitting next to me.

*people rushing around*

A doctor with dyed hair squats in front front of me, and shakes my shoulders. "Patient, don't you dare close your eyes," he says before turning around to see if someone was bringing a wheel chair or something.

"P'...," I mumbled and tried to do what he said, but my eyelids felt so heavy that I had too.

By the time, I woke up again. I was in a hospital room hooked up to heart monitor and an IV flowing into my veins.

*door sliding open*

"Kihyun-ssi! You're awake," says the young doctor as he got closer to my bed.

"What happened," I croaked.

"You fainted from exhaustion."

"That's what it was," I asked.

"Umm, well... actually, I need to go tell your attending physician that you woke up. I will be right back," he says before striding out the hospital room into the hall.

*door opening*

A mid forties looking doctor walks in with Phana behind him. "Yoo Kihyun-ssi," she asks after looking at the heart monitor.

"Yes," I said hesitantly.

"Let's see. It appears that you have fainted due to exhaustion, but you wanted to see a doctor because heart pains and chronic head aches?"

"Yes."

"When did they start?"

"About two months ago...maybe."

"And you waited until now to see someone about it?"

"I...well.. yes. I thought it was just heart burn and head aches, but they kept persisting so I decided to come in now as it started to hurt more," I answered.

"Mmm, I saw something in your blood results so I am afraid that you will have to extend your stay at our hospital," she states after handing my chart to the young doctor to hold onto.

"Ummm, how long?"

"We'll see," she says with a tight smile.

~fast forward five days~

"Dr. Lee, just time tell it to me straight."

"..."

"You said it wasn't anything serious so why are you hesitating?"

"Even after working as a doctor for so many years, it isn't easy to tell patients bad news..." she pauses before taking a deep breath, and then says, "You are dying, Yoo Kihyun-ssi and we do not know if there is a cure as this illness is unknown."

I'm dying?

Hyungwon

~the next morning~

~11:56 a.m.~

*knocking*

"Hyung," I asked through Kihyun's door.

*silence*

"Hyung,"  I said louder but still no response.

"This isn't like you. Usually you are the one who wakes me up and makes breakfast."

*silence*

"I burned your favorite pan," I lied.

*shuffling*

"The kitchen is so dirty now," I said because it was the truth.

*sniffing*

"Hyung,"  I asked, placed my hand on the door handle, and  the door opened. When I walked in, Mochi barks at me, but jumps off the bed and walks out of the room. On the bed, a small hill was on the bed that moved a little. When I got closer, Kihyun's pink hair was sticking out of the end of the small hill or the blanket with Kihyun under it.

"Hyung,"  I asked again.

"Go away," he growls in a rough voice that did not match his usual sleepy voice.

"Did something happen yesterday?"

"No!"

"Liar."

"Am not."

*more sniffing*

I grabbed onto his blanket and pulled it down over his head. He tries to hide his face, but I caught his wrists and pulled his hands away. His cheeks were soaked with tears. His eyes were red. His nose was tinged with pink.

"Hyung," I said softly before brought him close and started to rub his back as I hummed a tune that he always hummed when he was feeling down.
