Ch. 83: Soft for You

A/N: Feeling euphoric as I was able to get tickets to see BTS... Certainly a stroke of serendipity.  Singularity got me envying a coat rack. Lols.

~Friday~

~during lunch service~

Today, Kihyun has been glancing at me every now and then when he thinks that  I am not looking. He looked like he was really nervous about something and was aching to tell me or something. 

"Is something wrong," I asked cautiously when I was helping Taekwoon who's station was next to Kihyun today.

"Hmm, no," he says awkwardly and quickly looks back down.

"Are you sure?"

"Yep," he says while emphasizing on the 'p.'

"Okay," I said even though I was not convinced.

~during break~

Kihyun approaches me while picking at the bottom of his chef's uniform. He looks up into my eyes and quickly looks back down to his hands when he met my gaze.

"Kihyun ssi, you can always tell me anything," I said.

He says something rapidly that I didn't quite hear it. He meets my gaze and waits for a reply. When I didn't respond, he blushes and tries to escape, but I grabbed onto his wrist and pulled him back.

"Can you repeat what you said? I didn't hear," I said firmly.

"Oh...I..was.. you...know...if...want.to...," he stutters.

"Go on."

"I wanted to ask you to go with me somewhere," he says in a low tone. "There is a reunion...of sorts  tonight where chefs that graduated from the culinary school I went to gather and...I didn't want to go alone," he continues while looking at me through his eyelashes.

He's so cute. I just want to pinch his cheeks. He would probably let out an adorable squeak...

"Well, you don't have to...I can ask someone else to go with me instead not as a date of course," he adds when I was too absorbed in appreciating how soft and angelic he is.

"Huh? What? No, I want to go. Wouldn't miss it for the world," I said hastily, and mentally slapped myself for being so cheesy.

"Really," he asks a bit too loudly. His eyes seem to sparkle as he was happy that I accepted.

"Of course, what kind of boyfriend would I be if I said no," I said while blushing myself too because I had never said that I was his boyfriend aloud before.

~after work~

"Let's go, Kihyun ssi," I said when he walked out of his office in a white t shirt, pale blue jeans, and a long black cardigan that reached half way down his calves. I, myself, was wearing a simple blue dress shirt and black slacks.

"Okay, let me turn off the lights and we will go," he says as he went to the light panel and turned off the lights one by one. After that, we went to a fancy wine bar near the 63 building. The interior of the building was quite neat and definitely set the mood for wine drinking. Kihyun looked nervous as he looked for his classmates. I grabbed onto one of his hands and squeezed lightly. He turns to look at me and gives me a sheepish look before leading me to a table with around 20 people. 

Said people stopped talking when we approached.

"Kihyun ah~, didn't know that you were going to come to this year's reunion. How nice," says a lady with black wavy hair.
