Kihyun

~the next business day~

~at the restaurant~

"Can you hand over that whisk," Jin asks from the station next to me.

"Sure," I said and took out a whisk from a bin before handing it to Jin. But, as I was handing it over, my hand started to shake.

"Are you okay? Your hand is shaking," Jin asks after he takes the whisk from me.

"It's probably because I washed my hands in cold water a minute ago," I lied.

"Okay...," Jin says before focusing on the dessert he is making.  I laughed awkwardly before staring at my still shaking hand. I grabbed it with my other hand and silently wished for it to stop. I took a deep breath before resuming to prep the ingredients for dinner service.

After I finished cutting up the fruits for Jin's fruit tarts, I started to peel some garlic for pasta. As I was peeling one clove,  my vision began to blur like what happens to car windows when it is cold. I blinked rapidly and my vision cleared up for the most part. In its place, my head began to throb. I cursed under my breath and tossed the knife  I was using onto the counter.

"Kihyun ah~, if you don't feel well, just take the rest of the day off," Jin says in a worried tone.

"I'm fine. Really," I said with a tight smile.

"Kihyun ah, don't lie to me. Go now before I get mad," Jin states.

"But..."

"Don't."

"Okay," I muttered and took off my apron before walking into my office. I opened the cabinet which held my street clothes. As I was changing, Hyunwoo comes into my office.

"Are you okay? Jin hyung said you weren't feeling well," he says.

"It's nothing big. Just feeling a bit down. That's all," I said as I put on a beige turtleneck.

"Kihyun, I know that what you-," he starts to say but stops himself. "Let's go home and I'll make dinner for us. We can watch that drama that you wanted to catch up on," he says.

"Alright," I said after I wore my jeans.

~at Showki's apartment~

"Go into the living room and watch something. I got it," he says after we changed into more comfortable clothing.

"Hmm, I don't think that is a good thing to do. The last time you told me to do that while you were cooking...you burned all of the steaks we had and broke a plate too," I chuckled as I recalled that memory.

"That won't happen. This time," he smiles.

"I don't know about that...."

"Fine, stay there and don't help. I know what to do. How can I screw up making potato pancakes," he asks rhetorically.

"There are quite a few ways. Believe me. I would know," I said as I rolled a potato around on the counter.

"Can you get some eggs from the fridge? I need to peel all of these potatoes fast, so we can start boiling them."

"Yeah," I said and walked over to the fridge. I opened the door and took out the tray of eggs. Then, I involuntarily dropped it. I gasped as I saw the tray hit the ground and eggs being cracked from the impact. Hyunwoo spins around and sees me staring at my hands. He quickly grabs a broom and dustpan from the cabinet under the sink. He cleans up the mess before putting the cleaning tools away.

He takes both of my hands into his and kisses the back of my hands before giving me a meaningful look. I looked at him with tears in my eyes and bit my lower lip to stop myself from crying out. He leans forward and presses his forehead to mine as he squeezes my hands lightly.

"It's okay. It'll be okay," he murmurs.

I wish that it will be okay, but that is just not in the cards for me...
