It's the thought of letting go
That scares people the most.
The thought of losing a familiar, comforting touch,
The thought of losing a part of you.
It's when the world comes crashing down
And you feel so very alone.
You turn to this for refuge,
You turn for it for relief,
For no one will ever understand you
Or who you are,
But you can be yourself around your most cherished prize.
It's when it ends that it hurts the most.
You want to find something new,
But nothing can fill the void that brought you pure happiness.
It happens again and again,
From one new thing
To another
And repeating the cycle of grief.
You long for the moment
In what you hope is the new future,
For something that will stay,
Something that will keep you happy forever,
Something that you know
Will keep you from
Letting
Go.
