The room is dark around us.
It should be deafening loud,
But our words are soft
On each other's ears,
And our hearts beat against the world.
The words are foreign on my tongue,
Just like his lips
Pressed against mine.
An excitement takes over.
A cliff comes into view:
It's one I'm willing to jump over.
I close my eyes,
And start running towards the edge,
Not caring where it takes me.
I know what it is to drown.
I know what it is to suffocate,
To have every word sucked from my mouth
And used against me.
I want you to know,
My mind whispers to him,
That I am doing this
For you.
"I love you."
He looks down at me,
Blushing a deep red.
I laugh,
And he does too.
His arms reach further down my back,
And pulls me closer...
Closer...
Closer...
So close.
Our foreheads meet,
His nose warm as it crushes mine.
His eyes engulf me,
And soon I'm floating
In the ocean below the cliff.
"I love you most..."
His breathing is deep,
Slow,
Calming.
His lips press to mine softly,
And I open my eyes.
It was just all a dream,
But maybe...
Maybe one day,
A reality.
