I wish I had known
How hard life would be.
I wish I had known
How many people would betray me.
I wish I had known
Who would leave me
So I could leave them first
And not feel that sting of abandonment.
I wish I had known
When I would find my love
So I wouldn't have wasted it on others.
I wish I had known
When I would discover the magic
That I could bask in it
Because eventually is goes,
And it goes too quickly.
I wish I had known
What the world would have in store for me.
I wish I had known
Of the mistakes I would make
So that I would stop myself from making them.
I wish I had known
That wishes don't come true.
