Throughout all of the dinner, Liv couldn't stop thinking about how Noah could ever like this man. Connor told her that he was 10 years older and he had proven himself to be a terrible person over and over. Anything he brought up turned into his hatred for something, usually related to andriods. He also couldn't seem to keep his eyes off her, and she knew that it bothered Connor, even if he didn't say anything.

The waitress came back soon to take their orders. Noah and Liam ordered for themselves, and Liv explained to her that the two of them didn't want anything. She seemed surprised that they weren't ordering, not even a drink, but she didn't say anything and put their order in.

"Are you sure you don't want anything? I can pay, if it's the price you're worried about?" Liam said.

"No, I can afford it. We're just not hungry," Connor said.

"Alright, but please tell me if either of you change your mind."

Noah had stayed silent for a majority of the evening. Connor couldn't tell why. Maybe he realized that his fiance was more interested in his sister than him, or maybe it was something else. Connor couldn't figure out why Noah was acting so strangely, but he did notice that the two didn't seem to be close. Liam was sat as far away from him as he possibly could and hadn't taken any notice of his presence all night.

Connor had convinced Liv to give Liam a chance, but now he was starting to regret it. He had tried to get along with Liam, but as the night went on that proved to be more difficult than he anticipated. He knew that he couldn't compare everyone to himself and Liv, but he couldn't help but realize that Noah and Liam weren't as happy together as he and Liv were.

"I really want to hear more about this job the two of you have. Surely there's more to it than just being partners?" Liam asked.

"I really don't think that's any of your business, Liam," Connor said.

"I was talking to Olivia, actually. You seem to not being enjoying my company, Connor. Is there any particular reason you hate me? Or are you always so possessive over your girlfriend?" Liam said, taking a sip of wine. Connor knew at that moment that he hated him. Liv had convinced him before to stay for a little to give him another chance, so he did, but now he was sure.

"Connor isn't possessive," Liv said then turned to Connor, grabbing his hand. His anger cooled a little as she did so, looking up into his eyes, "Hey, maybe we should just go."

"No, no, I'm sorry if that came off more aggressive than I intended," Liam said, "I really would just like to know more about you two, and I also find your line of work especially intriguing."

"Well, I'm not a detective anymore. I quit recently," Liv said, "And we're not really allowed to talk about police business anyway."

"You didn't tell me about that?" Noah spoke up for the first time tonight.

"It's been a crazy couple of weeks," Liv half smiled.

"There isn't anything you could tell me? What are they going to do, fire you?" Liam chuckled at himself.

"Um, well I got shot once," she said, knowing Liam wouldn't stop until he got a satisfying story from her.

"Finally, I knew you'd have some good stories!" Liam said.

"I was out of it for the most part, but a man grabbed an officer's gun and started shooting at everyone in the room. He shot me but Connor was able to take him down before he could hurt anyone else. After that, I woke up in the hospital and found out that Connor had stayed with me the entire time, and he had managed to contact Noah as well. So without Connor, I would've died and never reconnected with Noah. I owe everything to him," she said, leaning her head against his shoulder.

"Touching," Liam muttered, not sounding satisfied, "Why was the shooter at the crime scene?"

"He worked in the building," Connor added, "He was an accomplice, but we didn't know it when we arrived at the scene."

Liam looked over to his fiance for the first time since they arrived, "You two are such an interesting couple, Noah and I have such a boring story compared to yours."

"Well, we'd love to hear it," Connor said,

"Truly, it's not very romantic. We hooked up and I asked him out a few days later," Liam said and took another sip of wine, looking at his fiance as he did so.

"Sorry, could you excuse me for a minute?" Noah got up from the table and walked towards the restroom. Once he was away, Liam's expression grew colder.

"You're not normal detectives, are you?" Liam set down his wine glass, "You investigate deviants!"

"No," she lied, "I already told you that we worked homicides."

"I'm not an idiot. I can realize when someone's lying to me," Liam spat.

"So what? We investigated deviants, yeah, but why do you care?" Liv asked.

"Deviants are easily spotted when they're pretending to be human, don't you agree, Connor?" Liam ignored her question, "They can get rid of the uniform, remove their LED, and show emotions, but you can't change the fact that you're a piece of plastic.

"The moment I mentioned andriods in the car, I knew what you are. You looked so uncomfortable at the conversation, and then Olivia came to your defense and proved all of it. I've spent nearly a decade studying andriods; I know you're a RK800, a deviant hunter, yet you became one yourself. Waste of materials."

"Andriods have freedom now. It doesn't matter what I am," Connor said, "You're just a dick."

"Trust me, plastic. It still matters a lot to some people."

Noah got back and the three stopped arguing as soon as he was close enough to hear them. Liv got up from the table, with Connor following close behind.

"Sorry, Noah, but I think Connor and I need to go," Liv explained.

"Are you sure? Do you need a ride home?" Noah asked.

"No, we'll call a taxi. Thanks for inviting us out," Liv said, even though she didn't really mean it.

"Have a goodnight, Liam," Connor said as he straightened his tie. He took Liv's hand as they walked out of the restaurant.

"You're such a smartass," Liv laughed at Connor.

"I just really hate him," Connor said.

"Me too, he's such a douchebag," she said, "Could you do more research about him? I've got a gut feeling that there's more to this guy than he told us."

"I can try again at the station, but I wasn't able to find much in my own database," Connor said, "I should have all the files for the DPD already, but I'll try my best to find something else."

Connor and Liv got into a cab. He said, "I know now might not be a good time to say this, but I'm glad to be with you, Liv. Seeing another couple, it made really think about how lucky I am to be with you."

"I meant what I said earlier, Con. I don't know where I'd be without you," she said, "Actually, I'd just be dead, but I'm sure you get my point."

"I know, but I'm so new to all of this that I could've easily ended up with someone as manipulative as Liam," Connor paused, "I think I just want you to know that I'm grateful for you, Olivia. I love you more than you will ever know."

She leaned her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes, "I love you so much, Con."
