"Go to the apartment, lock the door, and don't let anyone in, okay? No one! I'll be up in a minute," Connor explained in a panic.
"What's wrong?"
"Liv, go!"
She ran upstairs, still not sure what was going on. She unlocked the door to her apartment and went inside, locking it as soon as she stepped inside. Liv went over to the window and peeked out the curtains.
Connor started going inside the building. After he got inside, three men got out of a van and followed him inside. One of them was unmistakable.
Liam Dasher.
What is he doing here? Was he why Connor was so worried?
Liv ran back over to the door as she heard footsteps outside of the thin walls of their apartment. She looked out the peephole, seeing Connor get knocked to the ground by one of the men. Blue blood dripped from his face after they kicked him while he lied on the ground.
"Where is she?" Liam questioned him.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Connor said.
Liam motioned to one of the men, who then kicked him again and then picked him up by the collar of his shirt.
"Oh, don't fucking play dumb. Where's Olivia?" Liam explained.
"You're waisting your time, Liam. I'll won't tell you where she is," Connor said, and was punched in the gut repeatedly. In his face, Liv could see how much pain he was in. She remembered him saying the upgrade had upgraded his pain sensors.
"You should've stayed a machine, Connor. Being human is a lot more painful," Liam said as he gestured to the man with him. He dropped Connor, making him fall to the ground. She could see how weak he looked, but he continued to try to fight against him. When he tried to, he got kicked in the face again. A tear rolled down his cheek and she swore that he looked right at her, she was starting to cry herself as she watched the painful event. She whimpered, but covered her mouth careful not to make any noise.
She felt paralyzed. Stuck in this place of fear. Liv couldn't think of what to do, then finally got her phone out of her pocket and dialled 911. When the operator answered, she still couldn't say anything. Partially because of her fear for them hearing her and part of her still didn't know how to describe it, how to say the events that were happening in front of her.
She tried to keep paying attention to them, but whenever Connor would take another punch or kick, she'd flinch and turn her head away. Liv had almost forgot about being on the phone with 911. The operator must have heard the noise around her, despite Liv not saying anything, and said that the police were coming.
"C'mon, we can't risk staying here any longer. The bitch has probably called the cops by now. Bring the tin-can, we'll find her later," Liam ordered.
Liv ran into their bedroom, searching the closet for Connor's service fun. He always kept it directly beside his uniform, always in the same spot, but she couldn't find it. Both his uniform and gun had seemed to vanish.
She looked through the peephole again, and everyone was gone now, including Connor. The hallway was empty, apart from the blue blood that was splattered throughout the hall.
Just as Liv considered calling 911 again, she heard police sirens outside. Liv stepped outside of her apartment and went to the bottom of the stairs. She got to the buildings lobby and several officers were entering as she did. Gavin and Chris were the first to walk in that she recognized. Her body was shaking, as she was still in shock from the events, and she approached her former co-workers.
"What the hell happened, Liv?" Gavin asked, "Me and Chris got called down, but no one told us what was happening."
"T-they have Connor."
"Who does?" Chris asked.
"There were three of them. I only knew one, his name's Liam Dasher," she explained, "They got Connor and they're after me. They beat him- beat him until he couldn't defend himself. And all- all I could do was watch."
"Sit down over here, Liv," Gavin said, and she complied.
"We've- we've got to find him, Gavin."
"We're going to, but you need to calm down a little because hardly any of us can tell what you're trying to say."
"I should've done more. I should've called sooner, and then they wouldn't have gotten away. He's gone," she blamed herself, "I could've intervened, but I didn't. Why didn't I?"
"You did everything you could, Liv. You were trying to protect yourself. If you had went out there, they would've taken you too," he paused for a second, "I've got to file a report on all this. Do you want a ride to the station?"
"Y-Yeah."
----------
"Liam said it wasn't worth the risk of getting both of us tonight. Then I went to go get Connor's gun, but I couldn't find it, and then they were gone. And- and Connor was gone too," Liv explained as she sat next to Gavin's desk.
"Can you describe the men?" Gavin asked.
"I knew Liam Dasher, he's my brother's ex. The other two guys had they're back to me, I never got a good look at them."
"Is there-" Gavin was interrupted by someone walking into the bullpen. Liv got up from her chair and walked over to Hank.
"Hank," was all she managed to say.
"What's wrong, kid?" he asked, noticing the grim look on her face and a few stray tears rolling down her cheek.
"Connor was kidnapped. They got away, and I have no idea where they went," Liv said, and Hank had no idea what to say. She wrapped her arms around him in a hug, desperately needing one.
