Connor went to Hank, the only person he knew to turn to now. Seeing Olivia like that made his heart ache. He didn't know how to explain it to Hank, so he just stood in front of his desk for a while.
"What's got you looking all fucking pitiful?" Hank asked.
"Is your shift almost over?"
Hank looked down at his watch, "Yeah, I'll be done in a couple minutes."
"Do you- Do you want to go get a drink?" Connor asked.
"Since when do you encourage me drinking?" Hank asked and laughed.
"I need to talk to you, and I could use a drink myself."
Hank got up and put on his coat as soon as his shift was done for the night. Olivia walked by them, and she seemed to be in a hurry, but stopped in front of Connor.
"By the way, Connor, you're going to need to find another place to stay at tonight," Olivia said.
"Hey, kid, we were about to go grab a drink if you want to come along?" Hank asked, but Connor immediately shook his head no at him.
"I already have plans with someone tonight," she lied, but looked Connor directly in the eye. She knew what he would think when she said that, and it filled her cold heart with the closest thing to joy she could feel.
"Alright," Hank said and went to walk out the door with Connor.
----------
"So what's wrong? I know you wouldn't invite me out for a drink if you didn't have a good reason," Hank said as he sipped on his beer.
"Me and Liv are partnered together now, so I was looking for her so we could look at some cases. When I found her, she was in one the old break rooms making out with Gavin. If I hadn't walked in, it looked like they would've went a lot further.
"And now she said I couldn't stay at the apartment, and that she has plans with someone- Maybe I'm assuming the worst, but what's it sound like she's doing to you?" Connor asked.
"Sounds like she's doing Gavin," Hank said bluntly and looked surprised at Connor's story.
Connor said after he took a drink, "She's not been herself the past few days. She's so rude and cold, like when I saw her with Gavin she just laughed when she saw me."
"None of this sounds like Liv, at all. I've notice her acting different too. Is she really serious about going by Olivia now?"
"Yeah."
"Cheating on you isn't something I'd ever see her doing. Or to anyone, not just you. I thought she had too big of a heart to hurt someone like that. Even with her memory gone, I could see that she still loved you when we were at the hospital. And of all people, Gavin? Isn't he kind of old for her? He's like almost 40 and she's never liked him like that."
"He's 37, but that's what I thought too. I guess I was wrong."
----------
Olivia made her way to the room where all the weapons were located. Most were just service pistols, but bigger guns were there for more serious tasks, like when SWAT was needed. Before she entered, she hacked into all the cameras in the building. She used Gavin's key card and typed in his password, instantly having access to everything she need. Truly, it was worrying how simple it was for anyone at the station to get these weapons.
Olivia had been so worried about how to get into the room that she hadn't thought about how she was going to take the guns out without being noticed. Not many people were still at the station, but she still couldn't just walk out with an assault rifle in hand.
There was a Detroit Police duffle bag lying on the ground. How convenient, she thought. She picked up the bag and started filling it. When she had everything she needed, she left the room. Gavin was sitting at his desk, so she walked over to him and slid his key card back to him.
"Not a word," Olivia said and the lights began to flicker, "Don't mess with me."
The lights went off completely as a storm raged through the city, just long enough for Olivia to leave the station. When she got back to her apartment, she set the duffle bag down on the table. She started looking through it, double-checking that she had everything. Someone knocked on the door, and she quickly zipped up the bag again.
She opened the door, not happy to see the person in front of her, "Connor, I told you not to come here. Can't you tell that I don't want to you around?"
"Although Connor and I resemble each other, we are not the same machine, Olivia. I'm the RK900, Conan. I was sent by Liam Dasher and Alexander Thomas to assist you with your mission," he introduced. She seen now the differences.
Connor had brown eyes. Conan's eyes were grey. She had no memory of Connor ever wearing a uniform, and Conan wore one. Conan was also a lot taller than Connor, and had broader shoulders. Side by side, Connor would look much weaker than him, despite the differences being small.
"Oh, then I guess you can come in," Olivia said. Conan went inside.
"I'm still the one making all of the calls in this though, okay? You're just my partner, got it?" Olivia asked.
"Of course. I'm here to follow your lead and assist you. Nothing else," Conan said.
"I think we'll get along just fine then, Conan. Here's the plan."
