"Did you two forget about me?" Olivia said, obviously annoyed, as she entered Liam's house in her slightly disheveled appearance. Liam was sitting next to Conan, who was nearly unrecognizable. His skin was deactivated and Liam was working with some wires on an open plastic piece. She took a chair next to them, wondering what was going on with Conan, "I guess your million dollar robot was more important."
"Well, I'd planned to send Conan after you," Liam said as he continued to work on some wires in Conan's abdomen, "Somehow Conan deviated. But I've reset him and with a few more changes, it shouldn't ever happen again."
Liam took a second to look back at her, "I'm sorry, Olivia." He returned to working on Conan, closing the panel he was working on and opening a different one on his arm.
"Yeah, it's whatever. Connor and the police are still looking for us, though."
"Good job, Olivia. You've been very efficient."
"Thank you, Liam."
"I believe Conan is ready to go now, but he might take a few minutes to be up and running again. I can take a look at your knee, if you want?" Liam asked and spun his chair around to her.
"Fortunately for you, it seems like the bullet hit one of the few parts of Liv that is a complete andriod part. I should be able to replace it," Liam explained, "Does it hurt at all?"
"Not much. Just hard to walk, but I've managed to walk here, so I'm not too bad."
"That's what I hoped for. Your implant should stop you from feeling any pain, but with Conan acting up I wanted to make sure that you're operating well," Liam explained as he searched for a part. He found a match for her, and it was a simple process to swap it out.
"Don't worry about me. So, how did you find out that Conan went deviant?" she asked.
"When he came back here, he admitted it to me. He doesn't want to be a deviant. I could already tell when he started talking though. He was really worried about you, but he asked me to reset him before he went after you," Liam explained.
"So when he wakes up, it'll be like meeting a new Conan?" Olivia asked.
"Basically. He won't have an memories left from before. That doesn't upset you, does it, Olivia?" Liam tilted his head in curiosity at the young woman. She shook her head, afraid that if she said anything, it wouldn't be the answer Liam was hoping for.
"Good, so tell me, how did you get out?" he asked her.
"One of the deviants let me leave, I don't know why.
"Really? Did everything run smoothly?" Liam asked with such interest.
"Yeah," Olivia said, but then remembered the question she had been wanting ask him for a while now, "Why did you order me to surrender at Jericho?"
"I already explained to you-" Liam said calmly.
"No, you didn't! You were being completely unpredictable and irrational," Olivia furrowed her brows as she questioned him.
"Settle down, Olivia. You would've got the two of you killed if it weren't for me."
"But wasn't that the plan! The mission is all that matters, I feel like that phrase is etched into my brain! Yet the second I try to take your advice, you tell me to surrender! If it weren't for North, I would have been arrested, Liam!" Olivia yelled at him, "If that happened, would you have come back for me?"
"Olivia-"
"No! Was the plan for me to rot in prison?" Olivia asked, "I could've had a life sentence for what I did."
But then Olivia realized it really wasn't what she did. She didn't want to do it. None of it was her fault at all. It was his. His and Alexander's. She was merely a scapegoat, someone to be arrested and take the blame for their wrongdoings.
Her anger and hatred increased for Liam just then. She was being used.
"No, because of what you made me do! None of it was me!"
"I just had to reset Conan before we could find you; I already told you all of this."
"But did you tell me the truth?" Olivia asked, "You programmed me to be intelligent, so personally I think it's dumb for you to think that I'd buy that Conan practically begged you to reset him."
"You don't ask questions about me, Olivia. You do what I tell you to do and you shut up! Conan couldn't do that and that's why he's been reset. I'm not afraid to do the same to you; I've done it before," Liam threatened.
"Conan was going to come back for me, wasn't he?" Olivia realized, "He was worried about me and you weren't! That's- That's why you reset him!"
"And so what? It's my creation! It was saying that it cared about you, so I had to do something. I had to keep my creation working and productive. It has more potential, so you were left behind to deal with the cops."
"You couldn't care less about me. You easily could've sent Conan to come get me, but you just left me behind! You just know that you can control Conan more than you can me!" She yelled, now knowing for sure that Liam was most definitely using her. There was no hiding or making excuses now, "You made me surrender because you care about saving your machine more than anything, didn't you?"
Conan started to wake up again, and looked up at the two people arguing back and forth. Liam was the first to notice him, turning his head towards him. When Olivia saw him do so, she noticed too. She grabbed held his right hand in both of hers.
"Conan!" She said, happy to see him again.
"Yes, I am Conan. I was sent by Liam Dasher and Alexander Thomas to assist you with your mission," he introduced himself.
"Conan?" she said as she slowly let go of her grip on his hand and her face dropped, "Conan, no."
"I don't understand what's wrong, Olivia. Are you upset?" Conan asked.
"I'm sorry, Conan. You don't understand any of this, but I should've realized before that they were using us, before it came to this," she apologized, letting out any feelings she had now.
"Conan, you have a new mission," Liam's deep voice eerily echoed just the slightest around in the small room.
"What is my mission, Liam?" Conan answered back to him, eager to complete his orders.
"Kill Olivia."
