A few months later...

"C'mon Liv, we have to go," Connor said.

She tied her hair up, and walked out with him. The air was still frigid but she noticed that every day started to get a little warmer as the end of winter neared. Winter seemed to be so much longer in Detroit, but it hadn't been so harsh this year, and she was grateful for it.

"Do you think Conan's ever going to come back?" she asked, the thought roaming her head since he first left.

"I don't think so."

"God damn it, I lost him," Liv said and panted after chasing after the suspect. He had been caught on the cameras outside the house he robbed, and with Connor it only took a few seconds to get all the information they needed on him. Liv and Connor went to his house, but when she knocked on the door he had bolted out the back and jumped the fence. Connor and her chased after him for a while, bumping into a few people on the side walk. Liv for the most part had kept up with Connor and the suspect, but now both of them couldn't see him anymore.

"He's gone," Connor said as he stopped running.

"Shit!" Liv said under her breath and started to cough.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but I'd be better if we caught him," Liv said bitterly.

"He probably won't get far. We know who were looking for now," Connor explained, "It seems like this is about more than just losing the suspect, Liv. You seem distracted."

"I'm not distracted," Liv said. "Actually, I am."

"What's wrong?"

"I just have the feeling that things are... off, I guess," she said, "Things just seem to be going too well for us."

"You shouldn't worry about a good thing. Nothing can hurt us now, so let's just be happy about that," he said.

"I know I shouldn't, but my entire life has just been bad event after another. Other than Conan leaving, not much has happened in months. So it feels like something big is going to happen, and it will just ruin everything again," she sighed, "Just like it always does."

"What if I proved to you that things could only get better from here?"

"What do you mean?"

"Just what I said. What if I could prove it to you?"

"I seriously don't know how you're going to do that," she laughed, "But sure, Con. Prove to me that there is more good to come."

"Well, this isn't really how I expected it to turn out, but I can make it work," he said, smiling. She turned for a second, looking around her surroundings. After all, she still had a job to do, and she told Fowler that their relationship wouldn't get in the way.

"Look, Con, I really don't know what you're going on abou-" she said, turning to see him down one knee.

"I know we said before that we couldn't care less about being married, but I lied. Nothing would make me happier than being your husband," Connor said, pulling a ring box from his pocket. He opened it as he smiled up at her, "Will you marry me?"

"Yes," she said quietly, her face blushing brightly. Her hands covered her face, she was still in shock that any of this was real.

"Yes, yes!" She repeated, louder now that she had a moment to take everything in. Liv put her hand in front of him, and Connor slipped the ring on her finger. He got up and kissed her, pulling her closer to him.

A few people on the street clapped, but they could hardly care. The two of them were trapped in their own little world, as happy as they could be.

Connor pulled away from the kiss, smiling, "As much as I'd love to continue, we should really get back to work."

"Yeah," she laughed, as her phone started to ring, "Give me a sec. I should take this."

She answered the phone, and Gavin answered, "Liv, you're with Connor, right?"

"Yes..." she said, not really knowing where this was going.

"Alexander broke out of prison."

Liv's jaw dropped as she hung up the phone. She knew that things were going to well, and that it was just a matter of time before it all came crashing down.
