The first time Y/N laid eyes on Shouto Todoroki had been during UA's college orientation. The entire time it had felt like a movie or drama. He'd taken his place on the podium at the very front of the stage. A girl with dark hair stood to his side. Y/N had been so starstruck that she couldn't remember what the girls name had been.

The boy wore a dark blue suit that made his mismatched, colored eyes stand out like diamonds and they amplified his stoic expression. From his simple movements, she could tell he wasn't the most comfortable with the situation.

His red and white hair softly danced in the wind as he waited for everyone to quiet down in order to give his speech. From what she could tell, he was the representative for his school's business department. At least, that's what she'd been able to decipher out of her day exploring the campus.

Y/N wasn't sure how things worked in Japan exactly: she had recently moved in from the states. Her Japanese was great! Her history of their culture, education, politics and other things—not so much. So, she wasn't sure why they were having a speech in the middle of July, where the heat was above one hundred degrees and her sweat made her clothes cling to her body.

Still, something about the way Shouto Todoroki stepped forward to the microphone and introduced himself to everyone captivated her. Maybe it was the way the cherry blossom petals swayed across the entire stage, creating a certain spectacle off of the event. His blue and gray eyes dove into the crowd as if he was searching for something, maybe even someone; but it wasn't long before he narrowed his orbs and his lips tightened. Had he not found what he'd been looking for?

After his speech, for some reason, she couldn't stop thinking about him. Something about the way he carried himself, the way he spoke and even the way his gaze was so indifferent intrigued her. Still, it wasn't long after before she ran into him again.

Shouto Todoroki had been in her calculus class. It had been midday and there'd been three minutes left on the clock before anyone was considered late, but he had opened the door and walked in without looking at anyone.

Y/N tried not to show her surprised expression when he had taken the seat beside her. A part of her knew she had openly started at him, but Shouto didn't once look at her.

It was like she wasn't there at all. On the contrary to him, Y/N was very aware that he had been sitting beside her. His whole presence overwhelmed her. It wasn't that he wore very expensive clothes—his shirt was worth more than her whole outfit combined—or that he was handsome—which he really was—it was more of his expressions.

At first glance, Shouto looked like a passive and antagonist character that didn't care much for others—or so she'd heard from her fellow classmates, since he was a popular subject to be spoken of between all of them. Still, the way he gazed out the window with a solemn look as the sakura petals danced in the wind, made Y/N wonder if there was something more to him behind that guarded expression.

Surprisingly, Y/N was able to run into him for a third time. She had spotted him on the way to one of her science classes. He'd been out in the patio and lounge area outside, where a lot of the students gathered around during their off periods to hang out.

He had been sitting on one of the shorter pillars—surrounded by a group of people. Y/N

had learned from others in her classes that a lot of people had tried to get on Shouto's good side due to the fact that he was very wealthy, since his father owned one of the biggest business industries, which caused him to be one of the richest men in Japan.

Still, even though his expression showed a bit of indifference and boredom, his lips were holding back an endearing smile as an average looking boy with green hair and freckles wrapped his arms around Shouto's shoulders and told him something with a big smile.

To his side, another boy with black hair, glasses and a serious expression had reprimanded the boy with green hair for his comment, but a girl with brown hair and dowey brown eyes had patted his shoulder and stepped in.

"Don't sweat it," was the only thing Y/N was able to overhear from the brown haired girl before the other boy with spiky blonde hair and an angry face cut in.

The green haired boy didn't make it obvious, but Y/N was a connoisseur at reading people's behavior, and she could tell the green haired boy was afraid of the spiky haired one—or at least hesitant around him.

Beside the blond boy, a red head with a smile that oddly reminded her of a shark commercial she'd scene a while back, stepped in and grabbed onto the blond haired boy, said something and set everyone into a fit of laughter.

Y/N watched as Shouto Todoroki slowly let out a side of him she hadn't seen in the times she'd seen him walking down the hallways or their previous encounters. The small smile turned into something more real and something more comforting.

Y/N couldn't help but smile to herself as the group continued laughing about something else. She tucked her books closer to her body and turned away. There was something about Shouto that unconsciously made her seek him out. It had something about the way he behaved, or maybe the way his expressions reminded her of her own at times. She wasn't sure as to why she was intrigued by him, all she knew was that she wanted to get to know more about him.

Her next encounter with the half and half boy had not been one of the nicest. If she was honest, it had actually been a shocking and heart wrenching coincidence.

A month into the first semester of college, Y/N had discovered a  door that led to the roof of the university. She had spent some of her lunches and off periods there. Sometimes skimming over a book and other times reminiscing about memories from her home back in the states. The good ones—which weren't many and there were even instances when she even remembered the bad times.

The accident had occurred a few weeks after she'd had a very bad day. She'd decided to clear her mind by spending some of her night at the college roof. Even though she had to sneak her way in, and avoid all the old security guards, it was worth it if it meant she could free her mind for a bit.

What she hadn't been expecting was for the white and red head boy to be standing on the ledge of the roof, his arms spread out on either side of him as the stars and full moon shone on his pale skin.

It had been insane! It had taken her a moment to register who it was, and when she did, she hadn't been sure how to react. It was insane, but for that split second Y/N couldn't help but admire how euphoric and gorgeous he was. His hair danced with the wind, his eyes glowed in the darkness like an alley cats' and his lips were set into a small smile.

The moment ended when she was hit with a cold realization. Y/N felt fear creep in like an invader into her body as she put two and two together as to what he was about to do.

"Don't do it!"

She ran towards Shouto Todoroki with her right hand extended—prepared to pull him back with all her might. He couldn't die.

The boy in question was so startled by her outburst and presence that he almost lost his balance. If it hadn't been for her grabbing him by his jacket and pulling him back with all her strength, they both would have toppled over.

They landed in a heap on the ground, Y/N struggling to catch her breath. Still that didn't stop her from rolling over and grabbing him by either side of his jacket.

"You can't die!" she found herself saying, and for some odd reason, tears had started pouring down her cheeks and on to Shouto's stunned face. "If you die," she continued. "I won't have a reason to live!"
