Mr. Aizawa's piercing gaze was burning a hole into her face before her calculus lecture started Thursday morning. Y/N tried playing oblivious as she worked on copying notes Shouto had lended her.
"If looks could kill," Y/N whispered to the red and white haired boy sitting beside her.
Shouto lifted an eyebrow, his gaze shifting to Mr. Aizawa and then back to her. "I told him you were out for serious reasons."
"I don't think he believed you," Y/N sighed in defeat as she sat her purple pen down. "I'll make sure to talk to him before my next class."
Shouto acknowledged her comment with a nod of his head, but she could tell he wasn't paying much attention to her. His nose was deep in an economics textbook. She had a feeling he also had a lot of catching up to do, or simply wanted to be prepared for their finals.
Y/N played with the edge of her notebook. It felt like ages since the last time she'd attended class. She was set to go back to work in the evening. She had gotten a phone call from Emi in the morning letting her know she needed to be on time since they had an important guest stopping for dinner.
It wasn't a surprise when Mr. Aizawa announced a pop quiz at the beginning of lecture. He had a thing about taking out his anger through ten question quizzes that a lot of people weren't prepared for. Still, Y/N wasn't as unprepared as he'd hoped for her to be. She had spend most of her morning skimming through Shouto's notes.
"I'll see you tonight," Shouto told her at the end of class as he shouldered his backpack.
Y/N gave him a grateful smile, gathering her stuff. "Okay."
"Are you going to speak with Mr. Aizawa?" Shouto asked her as they started walking towards the front of the classroom.
"I will," Y/N replied, her eyes shifting to the black haired man sitting behind the burgundy desk.
"Do you want me to stay and wait for you?" Shouto offered, making Y/N smile.
"It's okay," she told him. "You have class after this, and I have a feeling this is going to take some time."
"If you say so. I'll see you later then," He gave her a small wave before he walked out the doors.
Y/N made her way towards Mr. Aizawa, who was chewing on a granola bar, his face unbothered as always. "Mr. Aizawa, can I speak with you for one second?"
He turned his biddy black eyes to her, not once moving from his slouched posture on the chair. "I'm surprised you're even here, and it's been over a second now."
"I wanted to apologize for not making it to class for the past week," she told him, choosing to ignore his jab at her. "I'm really sorry. I ran into some trouble and wasn't able to make it."
"Todoroki told me all about it," he met her with a bored expression. "I'm honestly surprised he stuck out his neck for you twice. At UA, students don't look out for each other. They all use any sign of weakness to climb to the top. You must be something else for him to go out of his way—"
"I—I don't—" Y/N stuttered at his insinuation.
"—but that isn't any of my business." He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at her. "I'm not interested on what exactly happened to you either, although I would recommend that you keep icing those bruises. They look like they're almost gone."
Y/N's right hand twitched, but she forced herself not to cover he face. "Yes, sir, and I'm sorry."
"I don't know what's going on with you, but it seems that you're acting reckless."
