"I don't think it's okay for him to guard her."
"He's the most trusted out of all the guards."
"He isn't a guard, he's a lackey."
"He could kill her if we don't keep a watchful eye on him."
"I think it's the other way around."
"What do you mean?"
"We should be more worried about her killing him."
The soft humming arose her. She felt something warm on her shoulder. She sighed in her sleep as she felt the warmth spread to her neck, her cheeks and then her lips.
Y/N opened her eyes, only to be met with a pair of crystalline orbs. She smiled at Shouto. "Good morning."
His head was on his white pillow, his gaze completely on her. His lips curled into a small smile. "Good morning."
"Did we fall asleep?" Y/N tried to blink the tiredness out of her eyes. "What time is it?"
"Too early," he told her, his fingers playing with loose strands of her hair. "We don't have to get up and get ready for class for at least another hour."
Y/N smiled at his answer, closing her eyes for a few seconds to take in the night they had. She'd stayed over at Shouto's place since Chisaki hadn't been home in days, and he wasn't expected back any time soon.
She opened her eyes and reached for his hand. She kissed his palm. "I thought you never woke up before seven in the morning."
"I couldn't stop looking at you," he told her.
Y/N blushed. She leaned in and kissed the corner of his mouth. "I think this is one of my best mornings ever."
"Mine too," he breathed out.
"I like this," she mumbled, scooting closer to him. "Being in your arms. For the longest time it felt like an unreachable dream of mine."
He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his chest. "My apologies. I know it's been a long and hard road to get here..."
She shook her head. "I can see why you were so adamant about getting too close to me."
"Yes. It's not everyday that I get tackled to the ground when I'm simply trying to get some fresh air, or get chased down when I lose a pencil." Shouto teased her, a small grin displayed on his lips. "I had to be wary."
Y/N blushed and tried to push him away, but he held her tight. "That's not what I meant," she explained vehemently. "The first time I simply thought you might jump, I might've been exaggerating a little, but who walks on the edge of a roof? On the ledge—"
"—me—"
"—and for the pencil, it was worn out, but it looked like it was taken very good care of," she continued, choosing to ignore his little comment. "I felt like you would've been sad if you lost it."
"I would have," Shouto admitted. "My...mother gave it to me a few years back, when I got into high school. It's very dear to me." He kissed her forehead. "Thank you."
Y/N smiled, but then it slowly melted. "Is your mom..."
He sighed, aging right in front of her as he nodded his head. "Yes. She's been missing, but I think it's best that we don't talk about it right now. At least not until I do what I have to do first." He brushed some of her hair behind her ear. "I want us to keep our relationship a secret for a while. We can't tell anyone; not even our friends. I have dangerous enemies that want to get in the way of me finding my family and want to ruin my father's business. I think the less you know, the better it will be. At least, for now. I'll tell you everything once I know it's safe, and I find out where my family is being kept."
