"No."
"We've already decided."
"It's a terrible decision!"
"You have no say. You wanted us to leave, so this is what we came up with. This way everyone is safe."
Y/N stared at Shouto and his family in the living room. His mismatched eyes unwavering. "You can't stay behind with me, Shouto. You would be in danger!"
"We don't like the idea of splitting up in general," Rei reasoned. "But this way you won't be left defenseless."
Y/N sighed in frustration. They'd been going back and forth for over twenty minutes on whether Shouto staying behind with her, while his family headed out to hide with a reliable family friend, was a good idea.
She leaned against the wall. It was close to late in the evening and the others were really set on their decisions. They each had small bags packed with all the belongings they had—which wasn't much in general. Was she being difficult? Was this the right alternative?
"Does this even have to do with his safety anymore?" Fuyumi inquired.
"What?" Y/N scrunched her eyebrows in confusion.
Natsuo rolled his eyes as he leaned against the counter that joined the kitchen and the living room. "You can't pretend we don't know you two are a couple. It's more than obvious."
Y/N opened and closed her mouth. She was flabbergasted. "What gave you that impression?"
"Please," Fuyumi laughed. "Have you really never noticed the way you look at him?" Y/N felt her cheeks heat. Shouto was staring at his sister blankly. "My idiot of a brother doesn't do anything but stare at you."
"That's not true," Shouto tried to argue, but Fuyumi shook her pointer finger at him.
"Don't get me started," she told them. "It's obvious you guys are a couple, albeit I can sense some tension, so it's clear to say that things aren't that great right now."
"Fuyumi," her mother chided. She turned to Y/N. "It wasn't hard to put two and two together, honey."
Shouto spoke up for her. "Our relationship doesn't matter in this decision. What's important is that Y/N will have someone to back her up in case anything happens."
"You can't go after Chisaki," Natsuo pointed out. "As soon as you get better, you have to move to a safer place. After that, we'll find a way back to each other and figure out a plan to stop him."
Y/N wanted to argue, but she could tell she was outnumbered and couldn't help but sigh in defeat. "Fine." She narrowed her eyes. "But how will we get back to you guys? How will we know you're safe? We don't have a way of contact. We got rid of all our phones."
"It's fine," Rei reassured her. "The person we are going to stay with is an old family friend, and Shouto knows where they live. Once everything has calmed down, he'll show you the way."
Y/N swallowed, but finally nodded. "Okay. Fine. Have it your way." She tried standing up straight again, but winced when her stomach area cried out in pain.
Shouto was beside her in a split second. His arm wrapped around her waist to hold her steady. "We could've done this while you were laying down."
"No," she groaned, slightly leaning on him. "I need to get better faster. And I needed to say goodbye."
