Y/N wrapped the bandage around Shouto's palm as delicately as she could. They'd moved from the living room to the kitchen where she'd sat him down and brought out the first aid kit. He winced when she tightened it.

"Sorry," she apologized softly. "But breaking all those glass objects wasn't a smart move."

Shouto sighed. He'd calmed down after Y/N had made him a cup of coffee and promised to tell him everything that happened during her encounter with Dabi. "My apologies," he told her sincerely. "I just didn't—speaking about him..." he shook his head.

Y/N bit her lip as she finished wrapping the bandage. Shouto was being very evasive about what he'd mentioned earlier. Dabi had kidnapped his family? The thought of it simply made her blood boil.

"You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to," Y/N reassured him. "I understand if it's a sensitive topic."

"It's not that I don't want to tell you," Shouto explained to her, his eyes softening as he met her gaze. "It's just very complicated, and I need to verify something before I tell you everything, even about what was written in the note he gave you."

Y/N fidgeted with her fingers. "It was your family this whole time..." her eyes watered simply thinking about how much Shouto had been going through on his own. "I never would've imagined. I made a lot of insensitive comments before, I'm very sorry."

"No, no." Shouto grabbed her hand with his uninjured one. "You didn't know. No one knows. It's something I've been keeping secret. I didn't even tell Midoriya about it. There's much more behind all of this that I can't tell you just yet. It could be dangerous, and I don't want anything happening to you. The mere thought of that bastard being anywhere near you...it makes me so angry...Y/N...I..." Shouto's face had turned a slight pink color and his expression had contorted into an almost painful one.

"I never thought he'd..." Y/N shook her head in anger, her attention wavering away from Shouto's.

She touched her lips with the fingers of her free hand. Sank had kissed her, even though he knew what he'd done to Shouto. She should've known there wasn't any good in Dabi. Y/N angrily wiped at her lips with her palm. She winced when she remembered her busted lip wasn't fully healed.

"What are you doing?" Shouto pulled her hand away from her mouth.

Y/N hadn't realized what she'd been doing unconsciously. "S-Sorry," she stuttered, not meeting his gaze. "I just—" she shook her head when she wasn't able to find the right words for a response. She felt disgusted with herself.

"Tell me," Shouto caressed her cheeks, pulling her closer to him. "What is it?"

Y/N took a shuddering breath when she felt the familiar heat in her belly. She would always get it whenever his hands were on her, when he was close, or when his hot breath tickled her skin. Why was it that every time she looked at him he became handsomer and handsomer?

Hia mismatched colored hair was in place, edging her to run her fingers through it; to remind herself of how soft it really was. He was wearing a low v, light blue, striped sweater this time around, and even though she loved it when he wore turtlenecks, his exposed neck made her want to kiss his soft skin, and run her teeth in that small spot that drove him crazy. Her eyes shifted to his lips. They were a darker pink, ready for her own to meet his.

"I want to kiss you," she breathed out without realizing. His blue and grey eyes widened along with her own. Y/N flushed red. "I-I'm sorry! I shouldn't have said that in this situation, or in any situation at all. That was so rude and insensitive."

"You want to kiss me?" Shouto repeated softly, his hands slowly creeping down to her waist to pull her even closer.

"I do," Y/N swallowed, not exactly meeting his gaze. "But we made a promise. We can't break it...not again...I..." she gave him a desperate look. "I can't keep giving myself false hope...I need to stop loving you, Shouto. I can't force you to—"

"—no." He cut her off, his voice clipped.

"What?"

"Don't stop loving me," he told her, tightening his grip on her hips, causing her to gasp in surprise. "Don't forget about me, don't stop thinking about me, don't stop desiring me. I know I said I couldn't...but I..." his lips were a breath away from her own. "That stupid promise...I don't care about it. Let's forget about it. We can't seem to keep it, anyways.  After today...after I found out about him being around you...I...If we keep it hidden then maybe..."

Y/N's breath caught in her throat as she registered what Shouto was trying to say. "You mean..."

"I want us to be together," he used his thumb to caress her cheek softly. "It could be dangerous...I have so much to tell you...but if you can trust me..if you can wait for the truth..."

Y/N met his gaze. She wondered if he could hear the beating of her erratic heart, because she as hell could. "I trust you," she told him. "Even if it's dangerous, I don't care. As long as we're together. I love you."

Shouto shuddered when his lips met hers. It was soft at first, their mouths embracing one another; like a greeting for the first time in a while — tentatively, like they were both being cautious about not frightening the other away. She couldn't help but remember the last time they'd kissed; how'd she'd craved his mouth ever since, his warmth, his touch, him. Simply him.

The memory of Dabi kissing her flashed across her mind for a slight second and she knew that the only person she ever wanted to kiss or be kissed by was by the man who had her in his arms at that very second.
