Two weeks went by, it was five days before Christmas and Y/N hadn't spoken to Shouto at all since their argument. She tried messaging him multiple times but he always read the messages and never responded.
She'd also been ignoring all the calls from her friends. She'd only called Kaminari to ask if he was okay, but other than that, she hadn't contacted anyone else. Oh, and Emi—because Y/N called out multiple days so far. She wasn't sure how she was going to explain her situation to her friends. She also wasn't sure if Shouto had already given them an excuse. The whole situation was exhausting.
A part of her wanted to throw herself on her bed and cry until her chest stopped feeling so tight and empty, but she had something else that had her worried. Chisaki has been quiet for too long, and she couldn't stand it anymore.
She'd been sitting in her kitchen when she picked up her phone. With shaky fingers she dialed his number. Her throat went dry when she realized he had his cell turned off. Out of frustration, Y/N took her own device and threw it against the wall, causing it to shatter into hundreds of little pieces.
"Why?" she muttered as she kept the tears from spilling. "Why is this happening to me?" She ran her hands through her hair. "Where is he keeping Rei? Where the hell is he?"
Y/N hadn't seen Rei in such a long time and she was starting to believe she might not be alive—it was a stretch, but Chisaki was capable of anything. She also had the siblings to worry about. She felt like her head was going to explode. This time she didn't have Shouto to hug and provide comfort to herself with.
She crouched down to pick up the broken pieces so she wouldn't step on them later. Her hands trembled, not out of fear, but out of anger, not even at Chisaki—at herself for being so incompetent.
"What can I do?" she muttered as she sat on her hunches. "I don't even know where I could start."
You know where to start. Use him.
Y/N paused as the thought in her head made her bones chill to ice. "No," she mumbled to herself. "If I call him...it'll be like betraying Shouto." She felt herself hesitate. "But it I don't ask him for help, Natsuo and Fuyumi will die."
She let herself debate for a few seconds before she stood. She'd made her decision.
...
"For you to look for me is a real honor," Dabi smiled at her as he sipped on his chocolate milkshake.
Y/N chewed on her bottom lip as she scanned their surroundings. She'd asked him to meet her a city over in a small burger joint where she knew she wouldn't run into anyone she knew. "Are you able to be out in the open?"
He smirked at her comment. "Worried about me?"
She gave him a disbelieving look. "I simply don't want to be arrested along with you."
He sat his shake down. "Is that any way you should be talking to me when we both know why you're really here?"
The hold on her purse tightened. "Dabi, I really don't know if I should trust you or not. I don't know if you're my ally or not. I don't know anything about you."
He scrutinized her. "The boyfriend broke up with you, didn't he?"
She avoided his gaze. "I'm not here to talk about me and Shouto."
He tapped on the table. "It's his loss." He gave her a quirk of a smile. "I'd be more than glad to take his place. I bet he wasn't too happy about you being around me. Does he know you're here right now? I'll take that as a no since you asked me to meet so far away from his place."
