Tomura Shigaraki was an interesting man. Not...exactly in a good way. He had an over ghastly sense of pride and behaved in such an egotistical manner that it brought Y/N so close to pouring a drink down his back if it would get him to shut up.
There were a total of forty people scattered around the dining area, four of them to which she was in charge of serving. Shigaraki being one of them. She was in section A, according to Emi, but Y/N had a feeling sections didn't really matter. From what she could tell, all the waiters were helping one another in any way they could. They were understaffed and these people weren't very patient.
"What are your next plans?" The man with a black mustache, who wouldn't stop stabbing his pasta, questioned Shigaraki.
Y/N made herself busy by walking around refilling their glasses with water for them. Her ears were alert. She wanted to hear what Shigaraki had to say.
"My next plans?" Shigaraki had a raspy voice, like he'd spent most of his life smoking cigarettes and swallowing cigars. He didn't look much older than thirty though. He could easily be one of the youngest and richest people ever.
"Are you going to peruse your newly appointed CEO position or are you personally continuing in the medical field?" Mustache man elaborated.
"It's funny you ask, Tobita." Shigaraki played with the edge of his water glass. "I was thinking of spending more time researching."
"Researching?" Tobita gave him a questioning look. "Researching what exactly?"
Shigaraki grinned, making Y/N realize he really needed some chapstick. "Now, now, Tobita. You and I both know I can't tell you what, exactly. We both have to keep our secrets. All I can say, is that it'll help change the way we see humanity."
"What about the company? Who is going to take over it?" Tobita pressed on.
"That's easy," Shigaraki grabbed a napkin and wiped the corners of his mouth. "I will continue running it."
"What?" Tobita looked flagbastered. "How can you do both?"
"I have my ways," Shigaraki told him. "Now, please stop being so annoying and change out of that ridiculous purple suit."
"What?" Tobita looked taken aback by Shigaraki's words. "This is a one of a kind suit!"
"I believe it," Shigaraki snapped back. "It's giving me a one of a kind headache. Go change, immediately."
Y/N couldn't help but agree that Tobita's purple suit was obnoxiously loud, but she didn't understand why Shigaraki had to be so rude about it.
"Where am I going to find a new change of clothes?" Tobita refuted back. "You're being ridiculous."
Shigaraki paused, his face contorting into something terrifying. His eyes seemed to turn into a darker shade of red; crimson, like blood. He looked murderous. Y/N felt a shiver run down her back. Everyone in the table had gone silent. "What did you call me?"
"I—I. What I meant was, um." Tobita turned to Y/N, surprising her and making her take a step back. His eyes were desperate, lined with utter fear. She was the outlet to shift Shigaraki's attention. "You, go get me a change of clothes."
"W-What?" Y/N squeaked, not sure she'd heard him right.
"You heard him," Shigaraki's glare had diminished, but it still had enough intensity to keep everyone at the table quiet. "Get him a change of clothes."
"All we have are our work uniforms..."
"Then get him one of them," Shigaraki narrowed his eyes at her. "Or do I have to do it myself? I thought this restaurant was different than the others I've visited. I guess I was wrong."
Emi's face flashed behind her mind. Y/N couldn't let her down. "I'm sorry," Y/N quickly apologized. "I will immediately go get them for you. I will be right back."
Y/N knew she wasn't allowed to leave her section without asking Emi for permission to do so, but she counted getting a change of clothes for Mr. Oompa Loompa as an emergency. If he didn't take off that ridiculous blazer, Shigaraki would probably kill him. Not literally, but Y/N knew he was a powerful man, and by observing his behavior for the last thirty minutes, she was sure he wouldn't hesitate to make Tobita's life a living hell.
As Y/N made her way to Emi's office, where she remembered seeing a box with extra work shirts in, she caught sight of the person she'd been trying to avoid the entire night. He was at the back of the restaurant.
Dabi was no longer in his rebellious, punk rock type of clothes. Instead, he looked like the average businessman, but much more appealing. His black suit and tie made him appear older, more refined, and simply more approachable. His black hair was tamed, and he was no longer wearing a mask to cover his mouth.
Y/N had known he had scars on sections of his face, so she wasn't surprised that the bottom part of his mouth also had marks on it, but it didn't take away any part of his handsomeness. Instead, it sort of accentuated it, in a more ruggedy way.
He turned to her, as if he could sense her scrutinizing him. His gleaming turquoise eyes met her in a smug stare. He was sitting with three other people, but he didn't seem interested in them at all. In fact, he'd sat very far away from them. His food was untouched, but his gaze was starving.
Y/N narrowed her eyes at him, trying to warn him to stay away from her. Dabi smirked at her. Smirked! Y/N shook her head, before looking away and continuing on her path.
The hall to Emi's was long, and the lights had been dimmed so dark that Y/N had to squint her eyes to make sure she didn't run into anything. Her footsteps echoed against the walls. She paused when she realized she wasn't the only one walking in that direction.
The sensation of someone following her suddenly creeped up on her. She glanced over her shoulder. Had Dabi followed after her? She narrowed her eyes. She was sure she'd heard the soft padding of steps, but there was no one behind her.
She kept walking.
You're imagining things. You're just acting paranoid. That's all.
As soon as she turned back around and started walking once more, the soft padding started all over again.
The steps synced with her own. The faster she walked, the faster they approached her. When she paused, they stopped too. She wanted to turn around and find out who it was, but something inside of her told her it wasn't any of her coworkers. No one but her had left their area, so who could it have been?
Y/N gripped her hands to her side into fists, and quickened her pace. She wanted to think she was just exaggerating, but...something just didn't feel right.
Emi's office was just a few feet away, so Y/N took her chances and sprinted towards it.
She wrenched the door open with one swing, and entered the office, slamming her body against the door to close it. She was immediately engulfed in darkness, blinding her.
She had enough time to take in a deep breath, before she turned on the lights and was met with another dark figure.
