"You're getting yourself into a dangerous situation," Dabi noted as he sipped his coffee. They were in his car, it was a completely different vehicle unlike the one from their last encounter. This one was a dark grey with deep tinted windows.

Y/N cupped her hot chocolate in her hands. "If I don't help them, who will?"

"These kids," he started. "There's a reason why Chisaki took them. He'll be moving hell and earth to find them."

"I know," she agreed. "Also, why call them kids? Fuyumi is way into her twenties and Natsuo seems around the same age as you."

"Those are their names?" Dabi had a mixed expression on his face, but before she could question him about it, it was gone. "How old you think I am?"

"Aren't you like in your forties?"

He gave her a deadpanned look. "I'm twenty-one."

"Whoa, you're so old." she jested with him.

"How old are you? Five?"

She shook her head in mock offense. "How dare you? I'm nineteen, but sixty at heart."

Dabi chuckled softly at her joke, something she hadn't heard before. He shifted his gaze to stare out the front window of his car. They were parked outside a small corner store an hour away from Musutafu staring at the falling snow.

"You probably won't hear from me for a while," he finally uttered.

Y/N felt her heart clench at his words. She didn't look at him. "Why?"

"I have a few things I have to figure out," he told her. "And they're going to take some time."

She lowered her lashes, almost closing her eyes. "Will you come back?"

"I never would've expected to hear that from you. I thought you didn't want to see me—you wanted me out of your life, remember?"

She reached for his hand and took it in hers, squeezing it tightly. "I don't want that. A part of me was scared of getting involved with you because I already have so many secrets of my own, of my stupid boyfriends, of Chisaki's, to add yours to would be suffocating, but ever since I met you I couldn't help but feel like you are a missing piece in my life." She licked her lips nervously. "I need you by my side. I know Shouto doesn't care much for you—"

"—I don't give two flying fucks if he cares for me or not—"

"—but I care for you," she continued softly, ignoring his comment. She sat down her drink in the cup holder along with his. "I wish things were different and we hadn't met in the situation we are now. Dabi, have you and I really never met before? I just...I just feel this attraction and familiarity with you that I can't comprehend or describe."

"I'd remember if I met you before," he told her. "You're unforgettable."

She chewed on her bottom lip. "Will you be doing something dangerous?"

"Maybe."

"Could it...kill you?"

"I don't know."

She turned to him beggingly. "Don't go."

His eyes widened in surprise, but then he set his stoic expression and his lips tightened. "I'm sorry. I can't grant you that." She gave him a desperate look. He leaned his palm against her cheek, his calloused fingers causing her to shiver. "You and that bastard broke up, right?"
