Y/N rolled to her side as she laid on her bed. She hugged her blanket close. Her room had everything she needed. A place to sleep, somewhere to store her clothes, and an adjacent bathroom. It was a very plain room, but compared to her foster homes back in the states, it had been a big improvement.
Recently, with her paychecks from One For All, she'd been buying small nick nacks that could help her decorate her room, but she didn't spend too much. She had all the money she'd received from Chisaki and some savings from work stored in her closet. She needed to start browsing through apartments—she couldn't keep living with fear for the rest of her life.
Her phone rang; announcing a message. Y/N reached for it and unlocked the screen.
From: Shouto Todoroki
08:21: Made it home?
Y/N cursed herself under her breath for forgetting a vital request Shouto had asked from her. She'd forgotten to text him letting him know she'd made it home. Safe and sound. For now. Chisaki wasn't home, so she wasn't going to have any new bruises at least.
To: Shouto Todoroki
08:22: Yes, I'm home. How are you feeling?
From: Shouto Todoroki
08:22: Better. The medicine worked, so I'll probably sleep until tomorrow.
Y/N smiled at his message. She'd never expected herself to be in a situation where Shouto would be texting her like this, but then again, she'd never expected herself to find herself in his arms, or his lips against hers.
Or to hold three men at gunpoint.
Y/N shook her head, and instead texted him back.
To: Shouto Todoroki
08:23: That's good to hear. Goodnight
Y/N sighed as she rolled over to her stomach. She was still wearing Shouto's sweater. She hadn't realized until she'd walked into her apartment that the blue hoodie had Marvel in white, block letters written across it. She couldn't help but grin. Shouto was a fan too, and it was kind of cute.
Still, Y/N hugged her pillow close. The feeling of rejectment still lingered deep in her heart. Shouto wasn't hers. He'd never be hers. She sighed. She should've realized that very early on. What made her believe that she'd ever had a chance? Her soft glances in class and in the hallways had escalated way more than she'd hoped, and now Shouto had become a big part of her life.
Y/N hadn't been prepared for that. She'd hadn't been prepared to confess her love for him. She'd been bold and told him she loved him; which was true. She loved everything about him, even his glarefull gaze that caused her skin to crawl, made her feel so alive.
Every time she laid her eyes on him, it was like she wanted more of him, to know more of him, and it drove her to a point where she herself couldn't decipher the pinch in her heart as love or pain. Most of all, it was his gaze that made her fall completely head over heels for him. She'd known there was something else behind it, and so far, she had been right.
Her phone rang again. She was surprised when she realized he'd texted her back. He hadn't done that before.
