Cherry | Epilogue i | Blossoms

🌸

Blossom scurried along his legs as he leaned back on the recliner in his mother's house. It had been three months since they'd left the police station after Mr. Aizawa had given them the green light that they were safe—for the time being. It was now mid March. UA was out for vacation.

Shouto could hear the laughter coming from the kitchen, followed by the sound of pans and kitchenware banging against one another. After he'd left the station, he'd taken Y/N with him to reunite with his family. He'd made a silent pact that he'd never let anyone separate them again.

So, he used his father's credit card to buy his mother and siblings a house not too far from the university. After all, Natsuo had decided to take off work to spend more time with them and Fuyumi had moved to teaching at a smaller school nearby. She wanted to be home to cook dinner for everyone at least once a week. Shouto was more than content to comply with that.

As for the topic of his father, he'd had the audacity to show his face to him a week later at the company, which Shouto had started practically running by then, and ask about how he was doing.

If it hadn't been that there were other people around, Shouto might've punched him. Sure, his father called the FBI to let them know about Chisaki and Dabi, but he'd also run away with his tail between his legs instead of confronting the asshole. Shouto would never forgive his father for separating him from his mother and siblings.

"Shouto," Y/N sang as she walked into the living room towards him, momentarily pulling him out of his thoughts. She was holding Blossom in her hands, but a second later he hopped off.

Even with flour on her cheek, and chocolate on her nose she looked so breathtaking. She was wearing a light pink apron that he knew his sister had bought for her, and everyone else so they could match when they baked together. Shouto preferred not to set the new house on fire, so he stayed away from the apron and the kitchen.

He stood to meet her half way. He stayed at an arm's distance. His family was just in the other room, and he wasn't much for showing public affection. "Does my mom have you baking up a storm?"

She gave him a warm smile, her eyes crinkling slightly and her cheeks flushing softly. He could feel the beating of his heart start to speed up. Oh, they affect she had on him. "We made cookies, muffins, scones and I think Natsuo's pie tastes really great. You should come and join us," she suggested. She grabbed on to his arms and gave a pleading look. There was something about Y/N that just drove him crazy.

He couldn't think of a day he would ever deny her anything. It was impossible. "Okay, I'll be there in a minute."

She smiled with glee. Then, she leaned over to kiss him on the lips slightly, he swore his face was like a tomato. Still, that didn't stop him from kissing her back.

"I'll see you in there."

He watched her walk back into the kitchen. He had to admit he'd never expected to be in the position he was now in. When he'd first met Y/N he'd thought she was either one of his crazy fans or one of the many girls his father had been trying to set him up with for an arranged marriage.

After a while, she became a close friend to him. Over time, he realized that when Y/N wasn't around it was like he couldn't breathe—she was his oxygen. When they were apart, all he could do was think about her.

His lips tightened. As for the incident where she tried to jump off the roof...he hadn't mentioned it to Mr. Aizawa, but he'd made sure to stay by her side as much as he could ever since then. He had to admit, he knew what it felt like to try and end it all. If it hadn't been for Y/N that one night at the school roof...he might've done something unforgivable.

Shouto knew how desperate and alone someone must feel in order to try to end their own life. That's why it hurt him so much to see someone he cared so deeply about try to make the same mistake he'd tried performing a few months prior. He could tell she was seriously hurt, but she was reluctant to get psychological help, much less let him pay for it. Which he'd tried explaining it wasn't even his money, but his fathers. She'd simply changed the subject afterwards.

The sound of his phone ringing made him come out of his thoughts. It was two messages. The first one he recognized who it was from:

From: Mr. Aizawa

12:34: The plan I told you about is set, all you have to do is agree. And keep your little girlfriend in the dark.

The second one...he didn't recognize:

From: Unknown

12:35: We are watching you.

He scrunched his eyebrows in confusion as he read the last message. Was it some type of prank his friends were trying to pull on him?

"Shouto?"

Before he could dwell on the thought longer, Y/N's melodic voice caught his attention. He pocketed his phone as he turned to her direction. She looked so beautiful with her messy ponytail.

"I'm coming," he smiled at her.

She beamed at him. "It's your turn to ice the cookies."

"Will you help me?"

"Of course, silly." She intertwined their hands together. He didn't even care that his family would probably make fun of him later. All he cared about was that she was smiling, and happy and that she was by his side.

"Fine," he agreed, temporarily forgetting about Mr. Aizawa's pending message and the eerie warning he'd received. "Let's make cookies."

Not much later, he would regret ignoring them.
