9:43: We need to talk.
Y/N stared at the message just a few minutes before her lecture started. It was Monday and Chisaki wasn't the type of man to text. He always called. He thought of messaging as a way to prolong the time someone spent wasting their time with someone else. It was a never ending cycle of useless texts that ran longer than necessary—a call would make it last two minutes.
Even worse, Chisaki was supposed to be at work and he never contacted her while he was on the job. It had to be something big.
Y/N felt her hands start trembling. She started thinking about what she could've done wrong for him to reach out to her during the day. She always made him lunch for work, she always cleaned their apartment and did all the chores. She bought all the groceries and left the change on the counter. What could she have forgotten to do?
Y/N felt her body go cold. Could he have found out about her job? Or that she'd been in his room? She tried shaking those thoughts away. If Chisaki had really figured her out, she wouldn't be in class at all. She'd be in a hospital.
The sound of a chair being pulled back made her look away from her phone.
"Here."
Shouto Todoroki had taken the empty spot beside her. His hair was tousled—like he'd been running his fingers through it—and his eyes were steady on hers. He wore his usual blue long sleeved shirt and jeans. He had his backpack on his lap where he'd dug something out of it. He left it on top of her desk area.
"Midoriya told me to give this to you," he continued as he took out his notebook from his backpack.
Y/N stared at Shouto for a second before she looked down at her desk, trying to process what was happening. It was a Captain America bracelet.
"He said it's his way of saying thank you," Shouto told her. He had leaned his elbows on the desk and rested his head on his left fist. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye.
Y/N took the yellow bracelet in her hands. The thoughts of Chisaki dissipated from her mind for a second. She'd never in her life received a gift from someone. Or at least, not one that was from obligation. In her foster homes they rarely had money for food and clothes—much less presents. When she was still with Chisaki and his wife, they'd only give her something during Christmas, and usually it was just stuff she needed in her everyday life. She still remembered her first Christmas with them: they'd given her a box of toiletries.
Their gift giving was never out of the kindness of their heart either—they always felt guilty when their actual children were around, so they felt obligated to give her something too. She knew it was just a bracelet, but for that one instance she felt like crying. She was...happy.
She turned to look at Shouto who was still staring at her from the corner of his eyes. She slid the bracelet on her left wrist, along with her others. "Tell Midoriya-kun thank you," she said softly with a smile on the corner of her lips. "I really love it."
"Okay," was all she got for an answer. She'd barely caught it since it had been muffled by his hand.
When Mr. Aizawa announced the lecture was about to start, Y/N was surprised when Shouto hadn't moved back to his seat. When she questioned him about it, he'd gone quite for a few seconds, before he twirled his familiar blue mechanical pencil between his two fingers in his right hand and tapped it.
"Because someone took my seat," he had answered somberly.
Y/N took it as her cue to turn back to her notebook. She wondered what happened with him asking her to stay away. Shouto was very complex, and she was too afraid to ask him why he'd reach out to her again. Maybe it was upon his green haired friends request. Whatever the matter, Y/N couldn't help but feel jovial. He'd spoken to her willingly and he had sat beside her again.
The sound of her phone vibrating broke the little bubble of happiness she'd built around herself. She had no one else in her contacts, so she knew it was Chisaki. One message from him was odd, but two? Something was up, and she was terrified to find out what.
Her hands had gone cold and clammy as she unlocked the screen with a swipe of her finger.

10:02: Meet here right after class.
Attached, was an address Y/N didn't recognize. Typing it into her map, she knew she'd have to take the bus. It was forty five minutes away from the school. Her eyes widened when she read the name of the place Chisaki wanted her to go to. Her arms grew goosebumps as wild thoughts started running through her head. What did Chisaki have planned for her?
"Aizawa is walking this way, you should probably put your phone away." Y/N practically threw her phone in her backpack when Shouto's voice reached her.
Like he said, not even a second later, Mr. Aizawa sauntered by them speaking about something Y/N hadn't even heard. Thankfully, she'd open her notebook to the previous lecture, so when he glanced in her direction she pretended to take notes.
When Mr. Aizawa was gone and on the other side of the classroom, Y/N sighed mentally in her head. She took her pencil and wrote on the edge of her paper: Thank you.
Shouto took one glance at her note, then at her, and turned back to the board. He probably thought she was stupid for being on her phone. It was the one thing Mr. Aizawa hated the most out of anything else. For a second, she felt disappointed, but she quickly shook it off. She had more important matters to think about.
...
Throughout the long bus ride, Y/N couldn't help but contemplate if she really should meet up with Chisaki or if she should make a run for it. But she knew she wouldn't make it far. Y/N was aware that Chisaki had some powerful connections. Especially after his brother's death, he'd taken all his businesses and along: his friends, which were high ranked with power and money. Y/N had no chance of escaping him. At least, not anytime soon. She had no choice but to obey him.
Walking down a few blocks from the bus stop, Y/N followed her map until she found the address that matched Chisaki's text.
Stopping to take in the giant building, Y/N took a deep breath. Chisaki was always mysterious and she wasn't really sure what he did in his firm or what his actual job was, and she never wanted to know. The less she was conscious of, the better.
Still, she wondered why he'd called her out to meet him at a psychiatric hospital.
