Her hands were shaking as she brought the cup of water up to Natsuo's lips. She wasn't shaking because she was afraid or cold—no—she was shaking because she was furious.
"Drink slowly," she whispered to him. She could feel Fuyumi's eyes on her as Natsuo downed the water.
Y/N bit her lip to keep from cursing as she glanced around the warehouse. The once somewhat clean place had turned into a pigsty. Dirty dishes from pre prepped food were all stacked upon one another on the table, dirty bandages scattered the floor, the bed's sheets were dirty and bloody. It looked like they'd run out of food a few days prior. She gritted her teeth. The guards had eaten their food.
She handed Fuyumi a cup of water as well. She'd looked at Y/N with resentment and hate since the moment she laid eyes on her, but her thirst won out and she drank the water in one gulp.
"I'm here to check up on you," Y/N announced, but she had to force herself not to let her voice waver. "It looks like everything is in order."
"In order?" Fuyumi screeched at her, her restraints pulling at her wrists. "We're being treated like animals."
"You should be grateful," Y/N told her, but didn't meet her eyes. "Others get treated less than animals."
"You bitch!" she screamed. "Take these restraints off."
Y/N tried to hold her tears back as she gathered the first aid kit and walked to Natsuo's side, knowing fully well he knew about her act. She didn't have time to explain everything to Fuyumi just yet.
She met Natsuo's turquoise color eyes and she could tell he understood, but she could also see how much he was suffering.
Y/N reached for the key she'd taken from the guards and turned to Fuyumi who was still screaming like crazy. She showed her the key and then brought her pointer finger to her lips.
Fuyumi stopped shouting and instead stared at her in confusion. If the guards knew she undid their shackles the moment she arrived, they would know she cared about them. The would use it against her. They would tell Chisaki. They would hurt them more whenever she wasn't there to defend them.
"What...?" Fuyumi started, but one look from her brother and she seemed to understand she couldn't say anything about Y/N taking the restraints off.
Y/N turned to her, and mouthed: Keep screaming like you hate me.
Fuyumi mouthed back: Why?
Y/N signaled to her that she would explain everything later. The white haired girl gave her an uneasy gaze, but went back to insulting her and cursing her for having ever been born. It wasn't hard task for her to do.
When Y/N lifted Natsuo's foot and heard him gasp, she knew things weren't going to be good. Tenderly and with as much care as she could, she placed it on her lap and undid the bandages. What laid beneath almost made her start sobbing.
"It's not as bad as it looks," he whispered close to her ear so the devices wouldn't catch his voice, but Y/N could see how taunt his face was as her fingers reached to examine his extremity.
His skin was a dark purple, almost black. It led her to believe that the skin on top was dead, and he had a serious infection. The bone wouldn't heal correctly unless the infection was treated. Still, as she worked on his foot Y/N couldn't help but ponder over why it had gotten so bad.
