Caught In The Middle

In this oneshot, Cyrus is struggling to pick who he wants to hang out with. After a heated argument, true feelings are clear. Told from a single POV.

Cyrus POV

There were so many thoughts going through my mind. I had been getting much closer to TJ as of late. It's almost as if I can make him be polite where other people can't. I have feelings for him, but I have a pretty big problem... I still have feelings for Jonah.

I wasn't quite sure what to think. Were either of them even interested in me? Jonah is very kind but I don't think he's gay. With TJ it's difficult to work out who he likes.

I was sat under a tree at lunch time, trying to clear my mind and forget about this entire deal, when I became distracted. I heard footsteps on the grass, and when I looked up, I saw Jonah.

Me: Hey JoJo.

Jonah: Hi Cy-guy! Hey that rhymed!

Me: You crack me up.

Jonah: I was wondering if you wanted to go to the Spoon after school?

Me: S-sure Jonah! Sounds great.

Jonah: Cool, I meet you later Cyrus.

As Jonah walked off, I noticed that he seemed very happy. He was almost dancing as he left me, which I must admit he was very good at it.

I couldn't wait for school to end. I was going to be hanging out with my crush, and it's been a while since we last hung out.

The rest of the day went very slowly, which was frustrating. As I left my final class, I bumped into TJ. He smiled, and started talking to me.

TJ: Hello muffiin.

Me: Hey!

TJ: Are you busy?

Me: I'm going to the Spoon and meeting Jonah.

TJ: Oh... can I tag along?

Me: Sure I don't see why not.

We walked to the Spoon and Jonah was waiting outside for me. His face fell when he saw TJ, I've never seen that expression from him before.

Me: Hey Jo Lamajama.

Jonah: Hey Good-man.

TJ: Hello.

Jonah: Hi.

I recognised that there was tension between them. I know that TJ and Jonah had recently put their grudge to rest, but I sensed that there was something going on.

We entered the Spoon and sat in one of the booths. I sat on one side, and they sat on the other. I had never been in such an uncomfortable atmosphere before.

Me: So, what's new?

TJ: Oh you know, the usual. Playing basketball, being amazing and all that other stuff.

Jonah: Ultimate Frisbee is going well, we have a final next week.

TJ: That's funny, my basketball final is next week too!

Me: Really? That is funny.

Jonah: Would you excuse me for just a moment?

I nodded and watched Jonah as he went to use the restroom. Sitting with TJ, I noticed that he was thinking about something.

Me: Penny for your thoughts?

TJ: Beck is so jealous of me right now!

Me: What?
