It Will Be Different - Part 2

Following Jonah's confession, Cyrus tries to process everything and the two discuss a few things in more detail.

Cyrus was completely confused, yet totally amazed at Jonah's revelation. He found it difficult to speak.

Cyrus: J-jonah.

Jonah: I'm so sorry Cyrus, I should not have said anything.

Cyrus grabbed hold of Jonah's arm and they looked into each other's eyes. The tension between them was unbearable.

Cyrus: Wait a minute, I think you should know something.

Jonah: Go on, you like someone else?

Cyrus: No! I like you.

Jonah: Really?

Cyrus: Yes, think about it. I gave up my sanity last week and went skateboarding with you. I got hurt, and yet I was happy because I spent time with Jonah Beck!

Jonah: Cyrus, calm down.

Cyrus: Sorry, but it's true. I was so starstruck when I first met you.

Jonah: I could tell, the way you got so nervous was so adorable.

Cyrus: What does this mean, for us?

Jonah hadn't thought that far, as he didn't believe Cyrus would feel the same way. He felt rather silly for not seeing what was right in front of him.

Jonah: Do you want to go out with me?

Cyrus: Yes, more than anything.

Jonah took Cyrus' hand and they walked back to the Spoon. When they arrived, the girls were already there. The boys sat down next to them, all looking rather flustered.

Cyrus: Hey girls, you're finished already?

Andi: Yes, it was surprisingly easy.

Buffy: What have you been up to?

Jonah: Well, you see, I...

This made the girls suspicious, which Cyrus was worried about, because he knew he would be unable to lie to them.

Andi: What's going on?

Jonah: I taught Cyrus to skateboard again.

Cyrus: Properly this time, I'm an expert now!

There was a light chuckle from Jonah as Cyrus boasted playfully. They looked towards one another lovingly, which automatically confirmed Buffy's suspicions. She was pleased, but Andi was still oblivious.

Andi: What's going on?

Cyrus: I need to tell you something.

Buffy: What is it? *smiles knowlingly*.

Jonah: Cyrus and I, sort of, are going out.

Andi: You mean, you are dating?

The boys didn't know how to react at first. Jonah was scared, because he wasn't quite ready, but Cyrus knew he had to be honest.

Cyrus: Yes Andi, I'm sorry.

Jonah: We hope you don't hate us.

Andi: Why would you think that?

Cyrus: Because I know you like Jonah.

Jonah: I'm sorry that I don't feel the same way Andi.

Andi felt a little bad that the boys were so nervous about the situation. She walked around and hugged them both.

Andi: It doesn't matter to me, if you like each other, you should be together.

Everyone had big smiles on their faces, no more hiding and no more guilt. They felt that the bonds were stronger than ever. Buffy was particularly pleased for them. 

Buffy: I'm so happy for both of you, I'm glad that Cyrus doesn't have to pretend anymore.

Jonah: What do you mean?

Buffy: Can I tell him?

Cyrus: Go on, he'll find out soon enough.

Buffy: Cyrus told me he loved you after the Space Otters party, when he became MVP.

Jonah: You did?

Cyrus: Yes, I was so scared.

Jonah: I didn't know that.

Buffy: Well, you do now!

Andi: Promise me there will be no more secrets.

Cyrus: I promise.

Jonah: So do I!

After a nice conversation, the boys went back to Jonah's house. They were enjoying their day, but Jonah had a few more things to tell Cyrus.

They sat down on Jonah's bed, and Jonah wanted to clear the air before anything else had happened.

Jonah: I was so scared when you broke your thumb.

Cyrus: You were?

Jonah: I thought that I had caused you to hurt yourself.

Cyrus: I'm fine, but I'm touched that you were so concerned.

Jonah: Thanks, but I would never forgive myself if anything terrible happened to you.

Cyrus: You don't need to worry...

On impulse, Jonah started to lean in towards Cyrus. He didn't know what would happen, but just as he got within an inch of Cyrus' face, his dad interrupted. The boys pulled away from each other.

Mr Beck: Well, aren't you two a pretty picture.

Jonah: Dad!

Mr Beck: Calm down, your secret is safe with me!

Cyrus: Haha.

Jonah's dad left quickly, but this didn't stop Jonah from feeling embarrassed. Cyrus thought that it was quite sweet.

Jonah: Sorry about him.

Cyrus: Are you kidding? He's awesome!

Jonah: Anyway, I guess that's one less person to tell.

The boys continued to share glances at one another, whilst there was a light breeze entering the room through an open window. Cyrus looked at his watch and had to leave.

Cyrus: Oh shoot, I promised my parent's I'd be home in five minutes. Want to walk me home?

Jonah: Sure!

Jonah and Cyrus walked up the block to where Cyrus lived. They held hands for the first time, and felt secure with one another.

Cyrus: Well, here we are.

Jonah: I can't wait to see you again.

This time, Cyrus closed the gap between them. Jonah felt his heartbeat increase, and they melted into each other as their lips connected. They didn't rush, and after about three minutes, they pulled away from one another.

Cyrus: I just, really love you Jonah.

Jonah: I love you so much Cyrus, in fact, I adore you!

They shared a final hug before Jonah left. It had been a long day, but they had the best time with each other. Cyrus looked down the road to his where his boyfriend was walking, and felt like he was in a place of pure happiness.
