Anything Can Happen - Part 2

Jonah talks to Andi about how he really feels, which leaves him with a very important decision to make. Told from a single POV.

Jonah POV

I had always enjoyed hanging out with Cyrus. He was always kind and caring, but lacked a little bit of inner belief and confidence. I don't remember when, but I started to like Cyrus more than just as a friend.

I was thinking about what everything meant, but before I could work everything out, Andi interrupted my thoughts.

Andi: You seem distracted.

Me: It's just... Cyrus.

I had already told Andi that I liked Cyrus, but I didn't reveal the extent, so I figured now would be a good time to explain.

Andi: What about him?

Me: I... I don't just like-like Cyrus... I'm deeply in love with him.

At this point, I expected Andi to look at me with disgust. Luckily, I was wrong and she wrapped her arms around me.

Andi: Have you ever discussed this with anyone else?

Me: No, I don't think I can tell anyone else, because you're the only one I feel I can trust.

Andi: I think you forget just how much everyone likes you. Nothing you could ever say would make them hate you.

Me: I don't care so much for that, I just hate the thought of Cyrus hating me.

Andi: I don't think it would ever be possible for Cyrus to hate you Jonah.

I tried not to think too much about it, but I kept imagining myself telling Cyrus and being told that I was weird. It made me so sad, and I started sobbing.

Me: I... I don't know.

Andi: If you trust me, then you will listen to me.

Me: How do I even tell him?

Andi: Well, I guess you'll have to think of a way that you feel comfortable with.

Me: I'm not so sure about this.

Andi: Can you honestly not see how much Cyrus likes you?

I looked at Andi blankly. What was she talking about? There is literally no way that Cyrus could ever like me in that way.

Me: I...

Andi: For goodness sake Jonah, he went to all of your Ultimate Frisbee games... He made sure that you were always okay... He completely idolises you in everything that you do.

Me: He does?

Andi: Of course he does.

Me: Tell me more.

Andi: He gives you his biggest smiles, he always lights up whenever you hug him.

She smiled as she was talking to me, I could tell that she had really picked up on what Cyrus was feeling, even though I hadn't.

Me: You think it's worth me risking my friendship with him?

Andi: There is absolutely no risk. If anything, it's a guaranteed success and it hasn't even started yet.

Andi was clearly convinced and that in turn convinced me to go ahead and talk to Cyrus. What I had to do was obvious.

Me: Come with me Andi.

Andi: Wait, where are we going?

Me: To find Cyrus. I cannot stand to delay speaking to him, now that you've talked some sense into me.

Andi: Lovely, it's nice that you actually listened to me.

Me: Well, if I look back, you were right about everything.

Andi: I'm pleased that you are going to speak to Cyrus, I think it's gone on long enough.

I was puzzled by what she had said. As we went in search of Cyrus, I was pondering over my thoughts.

Me: What's gone on long enough?

Andi: You not talking to Cyrus about how you feel.

Me: Oh, well it's not always easy Andi.

Andi: How's that?

Me: The world still has a way to go to accept me and others like me.

Andi: But you've got to believe Jonah, love conquers all in the end, you must know that.

Me: I do, but then again I wonder if love will actually be given to me.

Andi: From Cyrus?

Me: Yes.

Andi: You shouldn't even be doubting that. He adores you so much and I know that you love him. The only thing that can happen is you and Cyrus actually becoming a couple.

Me: I hope you're right.

Andi playfully pushed me, laughing at me. I had been so oblivious and now that I was seeing how it is, I didn't want to be heartbroken.

Andi: I know I'm right.

Me: So---.

I was about to continue when I bumped into someone. That someone being Cyrus, who was with Buffy and Marty.

Cyrus: Jonah?
