Feeling that Jonah is ignoring him, Cyrus decides to rebel. After an emotional talk, he realises there was no need to change.
Cyrus was finding life much tougher than ever before. Jonah had been somewhat distant from all of his friends in recent days. Andi and Buffy weren't so upset, but Jonah was the only guy friend Cyrus had, and he hated the fact that he couldn't even talk to him.
He was sat in the Spoon with Andi and Buffy. They were joking with one another, much to the annoyance of Cyrus.
Cyrus: How can you be so happy?
Andi: What's the matter?
Cyrus: Jonah isn't talking to us, aren't you upset?
Buffy: We are, but we'll get through it.
Cyrus: I just want to hang out with him.
Buffy: Well, perhaps you should just try and get his attention.
Andi: If that fails, then give him a bit of space. I'm sure he'll come around.
Thinking about what he was going to do, Cyrus decided that he was going to stop being the kind boy everyone knew him as. He had to shift gears and be a rebel.
It all started the next morning. He walked to school alone, hadn't made an effort to look nice, and was not going to talk politely to anyone.
Andi: Hey.
Cyrus: Hi.
Buffy: What are you doing?
Cyrus: Rebelling.
Buffy: Why?
Cyrus: I'm going to get Jonah's attention somehow.
Andi: Well, good luck with that.
Cyrus: I don't need luck!
They walked to class and Cyrus noticed Jonah almost immediately. He wasn't even going to try and be nice, he was going to be nasty.
Cyrus: Hey Beck!
Jonah: Uh... Hi... Good-man.
Cyrus: You've been ignoring me, I don't like it.
Jonah: Why are you acting like this?
Cyrus: I'm tired of you not talking to me.
Jonah: This isn't the right thing to do.
The bell rang and class began. Cyrus was furious that he had not made much progress, and believed that the only thing he could do was be even more bad.
Mrs Jones: So class, who can tell me what the biggest continent in the world is?
A lot of the students put their hands up, but this was not Cyrus' lucky day, as Mrs Jones picked on his to answer.
Mrs Jones: Cyrus, you're good at geography. What's the answer?
Cyrus: Your face!
The whole class gasped, for they had never heard Cyrus be so rude, especially to a teacher. It was the most unusual occurrence.
Mrs Jones: Mr Goodman, what do you think you are doing?
Cyrus: I don't care about consequences anymore. My life has no meaning!
Mrs Jones: That's no excuse, leave this class, right now!
Cyrus didn't wait, he left promptly and in all honesty wasn't mad or unhappy. He didn't care, and it was becoming easier to treat people badly.
Meanwhile, as the class got on with their work, Andi and Buffy wanted to talk to Jonah about what was happening.
Andi: This is because of you, you know.
