Being Overheard - Part 1

In this oneshot, Cyrus discusses his feelings with Buffy, but little does he know their conversation is being listened to.

Cyrus had finally built up the courage, he was going to talk to Buffy about his feelings. He knew that she would probably be the best person to talk to, as she had always been very protective of him.

Whilst he was waiting for Buffy, Cyrus sat in The Spoon alone in silence, thinking constantly about how he was going to tell Buffy. It was so confusing for him and he wanted to feel like at least one person truly understood him.

He was interrupted from his thoughts by the arrival of Buffy, who greeted him with a hug.

Buffy: Hey Cyrus.

Cyrus: Hi Buffy.

Buffy: Are you okay, you seem distracted by something.

Cyrus: Well, there is a really big thing that I wanted to talk to you about.

Buffy: Oh.

Cyrus: I've never discussed this with anyone before, and you can't either.

Buffy: Okay, I promise to keep this between us.

What they didn't know was that Jonah and Andi had entered the Spoon, but when they noticed that Cyrus and Buffy looked serious, they decided to stay back out of view, but just close enough to still hear what was being said.

Jonah and Andi had been talking the day before, but they hadn't realised that everyone believed they were going out. They discussed how they felt, but wanted to remain just friends. Jonah also told Andi that he was bisexual, and she was completely okay with that.

When they saw Cyrus at the Spoon, they sensed that something big was about to happen.

Jonah: Cy-guy looks really anxious.

Andi: I hope he is okay, he has been acting strangely.

Cyrus took a deep breath and felt a rush of confidence, so he began talking to Buffy in a serious tone.

Cyrus: You know how yesterday, Jonah and Andi started going out.

Buffy: Yes, and that's good, isn't it?

Cyrus: It is, but I...

Cyrus began to tear up, with the conversation becoming to much. Buffy quickly grabbed one of his hands and reassured him.

Buffy: Cyrus, if something is bothering you, you can tell me.

Cyrus: I'm happy for them, but it also breaks my heart.

Buffy: It does? Do you mind if I ask why?

Cyrus: The thing is, I really wish it was me.

Buffy: You mean, you want to date Andi?

To Buffy's surprise, Cyrus shook his head and she was able to link all of the pieces together.

Buffy: So you like... Jonah?

Cyrus: Yes *starts sobbing*.

Buffy gave Cyrus a reassuring smile, and tried her best to keep him calm. She was so proud of the fact that he talked to her about his feelings.

Meanwhile, Jonah and Andi were in a state of shock. They couldn't believe what they had just heard and were not sure how to react.

Jonah: Cyrus likes me? 

Andi: It certainly seems that way Jonah.

Jonah: I don't know what to say Andi.

Andi: Shall we go over and talk to them?
