Jonah listens to Cyrus, and discovers that there is more to him than meets the eye. This is set around season 1.

Cyrus had been really struggling to come to terms with who he is. He was dating Iris, but he couldn't help but feel empty whenever she was loving and affectionate towards him. He felt bad, not only because he was hurting Iris, but also because if he broke up with her, it could affect his friendship with Jonah.

Then again, that had formed the majority of the problem. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get Jonah off of his mind. There was something about Jonah that made Cyrus happy, but he couldn't figure out what.

Although he really didn't want to, he knew that he would have to break up with Iris before too long. After all, she didn't deserve to be in a relationship with someone who would never feel anything for her.

He had arranged to meet up with her at the Spoon. What he hadn't known, was that Jonah was going to the Spoon to meet Amber. They weren't going out anymore, but had decided to remain friends after they broke up.

He greeted Iris with a hug, which absolutely confirmed he felt nothing, and they sat down in a booth. Jonah had arrived and saw that Cyrus and Iris were having a moment, but he couldn't help but eavesdrop. Before he could do anything, Amber arrived.

Amber: Hey Jonah!

Jonah: Hi Amber.

Amber: Are you okay?

Jonah: Sure, I just want to listen to Cyrus and Iris, I think something big is going to happen.

Amber: Oh, okay!

As they looked over to the other couple, Amber noticed that whilst Iris was smiling, Cyrus looked uncomfortable at best.

Cyrus: Look Iris, I kinda need to tell you something.

Iris: What is it Cyrus?

Cyrus: I...

Iris looked at Cyrus with concern, wanting to know what was going on. Jonah watched as they spoke, and found himself unable to look away.

Iris: Come on, you can tell me.

Cyrus: You're a great person, but I can't go out with you anymore.

Whilst Iris looked at Cyrus with a sympathetic expression, Jonah was in a state of confusion. He thought that Cyrus and Iris were perfect together.

Iris: Why?

Cyrus: I don't know if I can tell you.

Iris: Go on, I'd like to know.

Taking a deep breath, Cyrus realised that this was the right time. If he didn't start acknowledging one part of himself, he would be repressed forever.

Cyrus: I like guys.

Fortunately the Spoon was practically empty, but Amber and Jonah had heard what Cyrus had said. Jonah was speechless at the revelation, Amber was indifferent, but Iris continued.

Iris: Now you mention it, that makes sense.

Cyrus: It does?

Iris: Yes, I can understand that this must've been hard. That took guts, you should be really proud!

Cyrus was really grateful the Iris had been so understanding, but he wasn't sure how he would be able to tell anyone else. Jonah looked at Amber with his jaw dropped in shock.

Jonah: Cyrus is gay? How could I not see?

Amber: Well, some people can tell, others can't.

Jonah: Could you tell?

Amber: I think so, he was never happy around Iris and I've never seen him with another girl.

Jonah: Do you think he might like someone?

Amber: Oh yes, he definitely likes a guy.

Iris left the Spoon with a greater understanding of Cyrus, and was pleased to know that Cyrus had confided in her. Just as Cyrus was leaving, he spotted Jonah and Amber.

Cyrus: Hey guys.

Jonah: Hi dude!

Amber: How are you and Iris?

Cyrus: Oh, we broke up.

Jonah: Sorry bro, I hope you're okay.

Cyrus: I'm great actually, I told her the truth.

Jonah and Amber looked at one another knowingly. Jonah was tempted to tell Cyrus that he had overheard the conversation, but then he figured it would make Cyrus feel more confident if he told Jonah directly.

Amber: The truth?

Cyrus: Yeah, I guess I could tell you too.

Jonah: Please do...

Cyrus: I'm gay.

After telling Iris, Cyrus had gained a lot of confidence, and he came out with relative ease. Jonah didn't wait a second before giving Cyrus a hug.

Jonah: That's docious dude!

Cyrus: Thanks for being okay with it.

Jonah: Thank you for telling me, I'll keep it a secret until you tell everyone you want to tell.

Cyrus: Anyone ever told you that you're the best?

Jonah: No.

Cyrus; Well you are, and I'm so happy that I told you.

Jonah: Me too buddy.

Amber: I've got to be heading home, I'll see you tomorrow probably.

Jonah: Okay, bye.

After Amber left, Cyrus took her seat opposite Jonah. He couldn't believe he had come out to the boy he was crushing on, but he knew it was an important step.

Cyrus: Nothing could ruin this day.

Jonah: You think?

Cyrus: Unless, I say something that I regret.

Jonah: Why would you do that?

Cyrus: Sometimes things just come out.

Jonah: You just did that! *chuckles*.

Cyrus: I walked into that one a bit.

Cyrus could've sworn he saw a twinkle in Jonah's eye, something he had never seen before from his friend. He played it down, knowing that Jonah was straight and would never like him back.

At least, that was what Cyrus had thought...
