After their respective conversations, Jonah and Cyrus try to figure out how to tell one another how they feel.
It was almost as if fate had intervened. Jonah and Cyrus were standing right in front of each other. Andi had moved to stand next to Buffy and Marty, in order to give the boys a bit of space.
Cyrus: Jonah?
Jonah: Cyrus... We need to talk.
Cyrus: I know, but I'm not really sure how this is going to go.
Jonah: You really feel like that?
Cyrus: Yes, and it scares me.
Jonah: I feel the same way.
The conversation had made both boys relax a bit, realising that they were both rather nervous about everything, even though they had no idea what the other wanted to talk about.
Cyrus grabbed Jonah by the arm and they walked to the park, with the others close behind. It was a rare occasion where Cyrus felt like he had a lot of power, and Jonah felt a bit weaker than he usually would.
Taking a seat on the grass next to a tree, the boys began talking. The others sat further away to make it no so obvious that they were listening.
Jonah: So what do you need to talk about.
Cyrus: I really have to tell you about how I feel.
Jonah: Feel about what?
Cyrus: You and me.
Jonah gave Cyrus his full attention, with a tiny bit of anxiety crossing his mind in anticipation of what Cyrus was going to say.
Cyrus: I have been thinking a lot about our friendship.
Jonah: Me too, I think about it everyday.
Cyrus: I'll admit, that surprises me.
Jonah: How so?
Cyrus: You're so popular, and so busy, why would you waste your precious time thinking about someone like me.
The only part of Cyrus that Jonah despised was his lack of self esteem. It was something he never understood. As far as Jonah was concerned, Cyrus had no need to feel like that.
Jonah: What do you mean someone like you?
Cyrus: I'm a loser, I cry at the smallest things, and compared to all of the other guys at school, I'm nothing.
Jonah: And people call me oblivious.
Cyrus: You're very oblivious.
Jonah: Okay, hurtful! But still, you fail to see how you are more of a human being than I, or any of the other guys, could even dream about being.
In the background, Andi and Buffy screamed "Aww!". Which prompted a few looks from the boys.
Cyrus: Girls, please this is important.
Andi: Sorry, as you were.
They all chuckled softly before Cyrus returned to what Jonah had said.
Cyrus: No one has ever said anything so kind to me.
Jonah: That's probably because you don't know many nice people, who genuinely care about you.
Cyrus: Can you even name three people who care about me?
Jonah: Easy, there's Andi, Buffy and someone else.
Cyrus could see Jonah become slightly nervous as he finished the sentence. Jonah's eyes became wide as he prepared to expand his explanation.
Cyrus: Who's the someone else?
Jonah: You haven't worked it out? You don't already know?
Cyrus: No.
Jonah: It's me Cy, I care about you so much you wouldn't believe.
The girls and Marty were becoming emotional, but kept quiet so as not to disturb what was going on. Cyrus meanwhile looked at Jonah, seeing the boy that he had fallen in love with, after hearing that he cared
Cyrus: I care about you too Jo.
Jonah: In fact, I would go a step further.
Cyrus: To what extent.
Jonah: Okay, here goes nothing...
Cyrus: Wha---.
Jonah: Cyrus I'm in love with you!
Marty: Finally!
Jonah: Shut up Marty!
After a slight pause, Cyrus felt like his dreams were coming true. His dream boy not only loved him, but was in love with him.
Cyrus: I... I'm speechless.
Jonah: I know this may be a lot to accept, but I'm definitely gay, and more to the point, I only want to be with you.
Cyrus: You... certainly know how to take a guy's breath away.
Jonah: You always take mine away. Every time I see you, my heart warms.
Cyrus: This is probably the time to tell you that... the reason I wanted to talk to you was to tell you... I'm in love with you Jonah!
Jonah didn't wait, he wanted Cyrus, so he closed the gap and they kissed lovingly. When they parted, they stood up and Cyrus wrapped his arms around Jonah, not wanting to let go.
Jonah: Will you make me happy, and agree to go out with me?
Cyrus: I would love to, and you've made me very happy.
Andi: I told them everything would work out.
Buffy: Actually I told them.
Marty: Honestly, it's not a game of being better than each other, you both helped.
They stopped bickering long enough to look at the other boys. Cyrus was snuggling into Jonah, and in the other boy's arms, he felt strong, he felt safe and that in turn, made Jonah hope that Cyrus would stop putting himself down.
The end
