It Could Be Worse - Part 1

Whilst hanging out with TJ, Cyrus finds out some bad news, which gives him and opportunity to express his emotions.

Cyrus had been going out with TJ for a month. He was enjoying life ever since they had started dating, but there was a downside.

Andi and Buffy were both very concerned, as Cyrus had been avoiding all of his friends to go out with TJ. They were glad he was finally happy, but they missed him.

The girls were at the Spoon enjoying milkshakes when they began to talk about their friend.

Andi: I wish Cyrus was here.

Buffy: He could always make us laugh.

Andi: I know they're dating, but why does Cyrus always pick TJ over us?

Buffy: Perhaps it's because of love?

They both sighed in sorrow, remembering how things were when Cyrus would hang out with them.

Then there was Jonah, who for the most part still hung out with Andi and Buffy, but he hadn't even seen Cyrus in a few weeks.

He had been so distracted by thinking of Cyrus that he didn't see it happen. He met up with the girls at the Spoon, after a game of Ultimate Frisbee. As they walked home, Jonah was crossing the road when he was hit by a car. There was a loud bang.

Andi: Jonah!

Buffy: Quick, let's get help. You call an Ambulance, I'll call Cyrus.

Andi didn't hesitate and rang for an ambulance, which was there faster than they could think. Buffy set about ringing Cyrus.

Meanwhile, Cyrus was on a date with TJ and had no idea of what had happened. Cyrus was having fun as they played a game of ping pong.

Cyrus: Isn't this fun?

TJ: Yes, so much fun!

They were halfway through a match when Cyrus received a call from Buffy. He answered and realised quickly that something was wrong.

*Phone Call*

Cyrus: Hello Buffy!

Buffy: Cyrus, you've gotta get to the hospital now!

Cyrus: What, why?! Are you okay?!

Buffy: Andi and I are, but Jonah was hit by a car, he's in a bad condition.

Cyrus: On my way!

Buffy: See you there

*End of Phone Call*

Hanging up on Buffy, Cyrus felt severely shaken and was beginning to panic. He looked at TJ and explained the situation.

Cyrus: OMG Jonah is in hospital!

TJ: What happened?

Cyrus: He was hit by a car, I gotta go.

TJ: Okay, I'll come with you.

They went as fast as they could to the hospital, with Cyrus dreading the absolute worst and kept hoping things would be okay.

At the hospital, Buffy and Andi were sat either side of Jonah's bed. He looked peaceful, but his face had lots of woulds and his left leg was fractured.

Andi: I hope he's going to be fine.

Buffy: He will be, Jonah is a fighter.

Andi: I can't help but think that if Cyrus was with us, this wouldn't have happened.

Buffy: I think that it would've happened regardless.

Cyrus arrived with TJ, and upon discovering the girls he looked to Jonah. It was too much and he broke down. Buffy pulled him into a hug.

Buffy: It'll be okay Cyrus, Jonah is okay.

Cyrus: But I've ignored you... All of you and this is all my fault.

Andi: No it isn't, it was an accident.

TJ: They're right muffin.

Andi looked at the fear in Cyrus' eyes, knowing that he was mentally beating himself up. She tried to cheer him up.

Andi: Jonah talks about you everyday.

Cyrus: Really?

Buffy: He always tells us how much he misses you.

Cyrus: I've been such a terrible person.

Buffy: But there is something else we should tell you.

Cyrus: What would that be?

Andi: Jonah kind of--

Jonah: Uh...

All eyes returned to Jonah, who was beginning to wake up. Jonah looked around the room and saw Buffy and Andi, then TJ. His face practically lit up when he saw Cyrus.

Without thinking, Cyrus leaned down and gave Jonah the biggest hug he'd ever given. Their closeness brought back so many memories, and Cyrus felt like he was falling in love again.

Jonah: Cyrus... Cy-guy... you're here.

Cyrus: Jonah, I'm sorry.

Jonah: It's okay.

Cyrus: It's not, I ignored everyone, to hang out with my boyfriend.

Jonah was fully awake at that point, as he was reminded about his feelings. There was a new pain, and not from his accident. It was making his heart hurt. Because he loved Cyrus, he decided to support him in everything above how he felt.

Jonah: It's... okay. You love each other.

Cyrus: But...

TJ looked at Jonah and recognised the pain in his eyes. It was the pain of someone pining for another person they knew they could never date. TJ then remembered that Jonah had helped him win Cyrus over, and that Jonah had looked really sad the entire time.

TJ: Muffin, can I have a quick word with you, outside?

Cyrus: Um... okay?

TJ walked out of the room closely followed by Cyrus. After everything Jonah had done, TJ felt he owed him a debt.

TJ: You know, I'm really grateful Jonah helped me to woo you.

Cyrus: He-he did?

TJ: Yes, it was all his idea, but this isn't working out.

Cyrus: But--.

TJ: Listen, when Jonah was helping me ask you out, I saw who he really was.

Cyrus: Oh...

TJ: He always looked sad, just like he did when he saw me just now.

Cyrus: What are you saying?

TJ: Jonah... loves... you... Cyrus.

Cyrus stood still, not able to move. He was not sure what he should believe, but seeing TJ's face confirmed that he had heard correctly.

Cyrus: You think?

TJ: No doubt about it.

Cyrus: Um...

TJ: I'm gonna go home, I'll see you around muffin. Jonah let me have a chance despite how he felt, it's only fair I make it up to him.

Cyrus: Thank you, but if he doesn't feel the same way--.

TJ: Trust me, he does! Now go get him!

TJ left before another word was said, and Cyrus returned to Jonah and the girls. He saw that they were all confused.
